Hi Everyone,
I have an Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G). I usually connect it to my television with my HDMI port. However, it is not transmitting the sound to the television, which is a Sony Bravia for reference. I have tried changing the cable, changing the TV port to another HDMI, they don't work. I have connected different laptops to the TV, they are transmitting the sound, however, my VX 15 just isn't. It is sending the video without any issues though. Any pointers on how to go about debugging this issue?

Thanks

Sorry. Restore points are only a saved for about a month, then automatically deleted. At this point, about the only ways to rule in or rule out a hardware problem is a either try a partial factory reset while trying to save personal files, or if that fails, a full remove everything factory reset.  Jack E/NJ

Thank you for the pointer. I tried to follow this, but the device does not show up in the `playback` tab. Hence, I'm not able to select it for sound playback. Any suggestions?

Peer inside the laptop's HDMI port. How clean does it look? Jack E/NJ

Relatively as clean as an HDMI jack can be?

    (1) With the laptop turn off, re-seat the HDMI cable plug into HDMI port a few dozen times to help clean the port's contacts. Then try it again. If still no joy, answer the following questions.

    (2) When was the last time HDMI sound worked with this particular laptop?

    (3) Does Device Manager show any red or yellow warnings?

    (4) Open ControlPanel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in the left pane. In the box that pops up, is system protection turned on?

This laptop is around 3 years old now. I had not tested using the HDMI port before this. The System protection is turned on. And the device manager is not showing any red or yellow warnings. So I am presuming that this issue is hardware related only then?

    >>>The System protection is turned on.>>>

Go back to the restore point box that showed SystemProtection was turned on. Click the 'system restore' button. Click 'next' button. Select a 'restore point' with a date/time stamp that's near the time you first discovered the issue. Jack E/NJ

I have inspected, there is no restore point that is more than a week old. But the problem started much before a week ago. So I don't think that would help?

Thank you so much for the support. I will try to open it and check if the hardware is faulty. But before that I will try a Windows Refresh as well.
