I have a code 45 error on a touchpad thats built into my laptop.
The touchpad on my acer aspire es1 512 stopped working and i when i looked in device manager the ELAN driver wasnt there... i later found it when i clicked show hidden devices. I tried updating the driver, it said i had the latest updates for the driver i rebooted and tried it again... no joy. I then tried reverting back to a restore point and i realised there had never been a restore point set... i know... dont...
But anyway i then tried fully resetting my laptop and it done all the loading and waiting and preparing and erasing and all that and then got stuck at the "choose an option" windows recovery screen and couldnt get past it... anyway i got past it in command prompt or boot previous version or something i cant remember now and it booted and then said undoing changes and then upon loading up it said unable to reset this pc... still no touchpad i then lost keyboard and after using the on screen keybaord for a while and finding the keyboard problem was a filter issue in the registry i sorted that and keyboard working again now... back to the touchpad (still not working), i tried downloading new drivers for touchpad off acer site and unzipped and installed everything and restarted laptop and i still have no touchpad so i deleted the drivers on driver manager (The ELAN drivers) and restarted hoping windows would reinstall everything and it hasnt and now the ELAN drivers are totally missing from device manager i have no driver relating to a mouse or pointer or touchpad at all on there...
I have tried running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and it returned no component corruption.... i then ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth and it returned nothing. And i dont think there is a problem with the touchpad itself somekind of registry error or something any help or advice would be well appreciated thank you in advance.
