Hello, I tried to replace my NVME m.2 SSD with a Samsung one. However, none of my screwdrivers removed it as it was incompatible with the ones I had. I have an Acer Predator Helios 300 manufactured in 2017. It's model number is PH317-51-787B. The screw looks like it is on the picture.

  • Hi,
It should be a Philips screw but it looks a bit distorted, I would suggest you to loosen it with a very small pliers before using any screw driver.

So how small would the pliers have to be, given that the screw may be distorted and may be difficult to get rid of?

    Hi,
You have to find a pliers to grip the screw head, I don't have the physical access to the laptop, so if you are not sure please get help from a local laptop repair shop.

That screw head is totally destroyed, @brummyfan2 is right, if pliers don’t work, you need a PC repair shop to extract that screw without causing damage

Thank you and have a blessed day  B)

dellfinoisland3030 Seems someone already screwed the screw :p (if it wasnt you it was someone else who opened it) you can try the rubber band fix if it doesnt work im afraid u have to get it to a repair shop to get it out this happens when you dont use the correct tool for the job you end up screwing everything :) also i wouldnt advise to use any pliers as you might damaged the drive chips if you dunno what youre doing and then you have to get a new one the ssd screws require a thinner philips head not the normal ones everyone should research it properly and get a mobile phone disassembling kit which brings every tool needed before they start to try to unscrew it without the proper tools then this is what happens

I have 2 of these and they are great

You also need some pry tools to open it without breaking anything in the process

Yes, I agree with @xapim regarding the use of pliers, using pliers close to the components is not a good idea, we also don't know whether the  screw threads are damaged or not, so I also suggest you to take it to a repair shop and let a technician deal with it.
