I have just purchased a plug-gable USB C  Triple Display Docking station for my Acer Nitro 5 laptop - Model AN515-54 as I cannot connect the Vive's linkbox directly to it - I have connected the laptop to the TV but cannot get the VR headset to work with the docking station - any ideas please?

The USB C on your model does not support USB C docking station. The USB C port on your model is 3.1 gen 1 and supports data transfer between devices up to 10gbs for example downloading photos from a mobile phone. Please see the chart for USB C support below.

Thank you for your reply - the last time I contacted Acer this is what I was told to buy!  All I am trying to do is connect my HTC Vive VR headset to this laptop via the link box that came with the Vive - for some reason the HDMI connection doesn't work on the laptop to do this.  However, if I plug in the headset directly to the laptop via the HDMI slot and an ordinary USB slot then it does work.  What am I missing - I was led to believe that it's to do with the USB C port on the laptop that doesn't display output hence the need for the Docking station?

Man I don’t know what to tell you about what they said. However the information I posted above is from official Acer documentation and as you can see the USB C port on your model does not support USB C Docking Station. HDMI and USB would be the only way to go. Acer do have some models that support USB C Docking Station, if you want info on them let me know
