prof_paradox probably os compatibility issues as acer doenst provide official support for linux you would probably get a better chance on ubuntu forums or even anyone here who has the same exact model and tried the same :) but give it a search in the community you might find something useful

my acer laptop in ubuntu does not allow fan control thru its BIOS and also not thru Windows.
Likely your Predator has a fan control app in windows, the question is whether this can be controlled thru the BIOS/firmware and is accessible in ubuntu.

You can try out the following tools in ubuntu - tlp (power management), lm-sensors and fancontrol.
Just check out thru google search how to install them.
And after you installed tlp, you can enter the command in the terminal: $ sudo tlp-stat -v | grep "fan", to see if fan control is accessible to ubuntu drivers.

If so, then fancontrol might be able to control your fan. If not, which I think is more likely, fan control is only accessible thru your windows fan control program.
