Hey guys. So my HDD which is the OEM model is having issues for i don't know how long. But then I realised it wasn't able to read or write anything, even steam games. It also game  blue screen of death like situations couple of times. I removed it. After more couple of month i reinstalled it but same issue and found the software call Hard Disk sentinel and this what it showed.

I need help. I can't afford to buy new one at the moment but it is also kinda urgent. Also, my SSD (also OEM) health is reducing too! What should i do?
I use my laptop for gaming and CAD projects.
The laptop is Acer Predator Helios 300 G3-572

PLEASE HELP ME!!

If the HDD is the D : drive,  you can try to run 'chkdsk d: /f' from the command prompt to see if it can recover the files and mark the bad sections. HDDs are pretty cheap nowadays, so you really should replace it asap or you risk losing more files and data that's on it. Jack E/NJ

  • Can you give the exact model of the notebook? Example AN515-51-75KZ. Regarding the health of the HDD, does the same problem occur when connecting it to another computer? About ssd, is the trim enabled and the firmware updated?

Saad98 sadly this happens to all hdds are u having any smart errors at all my best advice here its to backup whatever you need and if still on warranty get it replaced asap as it might fail permanently without any previous warning you can try hdd regenerator (its a bit complicated to use you need a external cd/dvdr drive or a laptop with one burn it and boot from it ) it will try to regenerate as many bad sectors as it can and mark/exclude the unusable from read write this will take loads of time especially on a 1tb drive i ran it a few years ago on a 2.5" 500gb drive and it took about 2 days to finish and it doesnt mean it would work anyway neither that your drive is fixed just allows you to backup as most as you can when the drive becomes unreadable and then bin it :) but as @JackE said try chkdsk /f/r first.

Regarding the ssds its well known they have a limited lifespan the more cycles you write on them the less you have left some are better than others check it with diskinfo if you work on cad i would probably replace the hdd with a good 2.5"ssd if you have the budget for it and the best so far are the band new hynix gold great same performance all inhouse build and cheaper than a 2.5 samsung they will probably be also releasing m.2 soon its always good when a manufacturer like hynix (which basically builds everything for others) decides to make everything themselves and make it available to the consumer market and at a cheaper price
