Acer Aspire V5-571P Black Screen of Death
Hey folks, I've been racking my brain on this, and google as well, but have hit the wall. Heres what went down:
I have 2 V5-571 systems, one is a donor, other is my main.. Donor is a i3 setup that I bought as parts only for the case as the hinge for the monitor shredded on my I5 system. Everything was working prior to "surgery".
Basically all I did, was take the guts of my I5 system, and put them in the I3 case, as its base could support my screen (so my screen and motherboard never separated).
Upon reassembling my system, which went off without a hiccup until I tried to power on, and was greeted by a black screen, with no acer flash screen nor bootup.
So the screen has an almost green appearance when not on, when I turn it on, it goes solid black, so I can tell its powered.
I've read about the Crisis Mode for BIOS, and I've followed those steps (downloaded lastest bios exe file, ran it, and then copied the contents out of the temp folder to my flash drive)
I also held fnc+esc as I powered up. Whats different on mine, is the power cycles ones (doesn't blink), and then nothing happens. If I leave it for longer than a minute, the cpu fan turns on, but no life.
I also noticed that my USB drive doesn't show power (it lights up orange when plugged in normally) which leads me to believe the USB bus is dead. Also, the DVDRW doesn't power either.
I have removed both the SSD, and tried booting with nothing, with a regular HDD, and also tried removing the DVDRW and booting. No Dice.
I've also removed the BIOS Battery, but that didn't help either.
This was a $200 gamble to fix the monitor on this system, as I do like it for my daughter, but I may have gambled in vain. Its survived 8 years of constant use, and a glass of water dumped on it, but open heart surgery may have done her in. If anyone has some ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks in advanced
