Trying to decide if I should update my BIOS for my Nitro 5. I've been having battery calibration issues. I haven't used it in a few months and the battery dropped from 81% to 0% very quickly and shutdown/hibernated. Right now I am trying to calibrate it by discharging it completely and recharging completely. But I'm wondering if I should update the BIOS. The latest BIOS changelog says: Update PI 1.1.0.8 code for RS6. 2. Update battery support table.

My question is, what is the battery support table? Will this BIOS update help my battery issue?

Have you pressed the 'Battery Reset" pin? Before you do this you need to turn off the notebook completely, to reset the battery, press the button (shown in the caption) for five seconds, then leave the notebook off for five minutes.

Recharge the battery to fully and let it charge for at least 2 hours afterwards, ten try to use your laptop and see if it discharges from 81% to 0% very quickly?

I am still in the process of discharging to calibrate the battery, 10% now and it has lasted for a few hours, so it's better so far. Once it shuts down I plan on charging it back to 100%. Should I still try the reset button? Before or after the recharge?

Also, still wondering what the battery table is and if I should update the BIOS.

When recalibrating you should stop the drain at just below 10%, draining your battery to zero can be harmful, the process should be repeated for a total of 3 times.
As my colleague said do a battery reset and you can do it after or before the battery is recharged.
Nobody has worked out what update battery support table means exaactly but it stands to reason that it is designed to improve battery support so I would do it.
Download the update and unzip it to a new folder. Make sure your battery is fully charged and plugged in to power and the power plugged directly into a wall socket. Close all running programs and disable all Anti Virus programs. Run the .exe file in the unzipped folder and be patient especially during any black screen. If you follow these steps you should be fine.
