The Bluetooth toggle in my computer's settings is greyed out and unclickable. I first tried several solutions recommended by Google, but had no success. Upon going to the Acer website to look up drivers, I found the list for my model and there were two Bluetooth drivers listed: one from Atheros and one from Broadcom.

Downloading both led to an assortment of folders and files. In Atheros, the executable installer file gets as far as asking my permission to run and perform changes but does not open an installer window. In Broadcom, there are so many files in the download that I cannot begin to guess which is the driver installation file. Does anyone know if this is actually a missing driver issue or if there is something else wrong?

  • Are there any drivers with problems in the device manager? You can try to update via the device manager, selecting the folder and letting the computer automatically check the correct driver.

Firstly, you should either have an Atheros, Broadcom or an Intel WiFi/BT combo card, please state which one you have? Look in Device manager if its not there then open the back cover and see the WiFi/BT card, which will be right there in front of you!

Note: The Broadcom and the Intel both have a "Setup" executable files which are:

    1. Intel is the - Bluetooth_Intel_17.1.1525.1443_W10x64
    2. Broadcom is the - Bluetooth_Broadcom_12.0.1.653_W10x64_(HAI)
just click on that and it will install, dont know where and why you cant execute these files?

If you have either the Broadcom or the Intel then install them (after uninstalling the old drivers) through "Device Manager"

As far as the Atheros drivers are concerned, i speak from experience, as I've got an Aspire V3-571G and its got the WiFi/BT card
"Qualcomm Atheros AR9462-AR5B22 - WiFi & Bluetooth" which is the same as the one used in your V5-571P, these files have a 'Bluetooth Setup'  which is an executable file whle the WiFi driver you have to install through > Device Manager >Network adaptors, but the WiFi does automatically download through "Windows Update" and Microsoft have the latest driver for WiFi Win-10 but 'Not So" with the Bluetooth and that is why you have to install the BT driver separately.

These are the latest Windows 10 Atheros drivers:
    1. win10-10.0.3.462-whql.zip this is the Wireless Driver at: https://www.ath-drivers.eu/download-driver-for-Atheros-chipset-with-id-76-and-Windows10-64bit.html
    2. This is the Bluetooth Driver which is the "bt-10.0.3.14-win1064" from here at: https://www.ath-drivers.eu/download-driver-for-Atheros-chipset-with-id-79-and-Windows10-64bit.html

Note: make sure that you completely uninstall all the WiFi and Bluetooth drivers before installing these new drivers through "Device Manager" > Network adaptors and Bluetooth, this is very important then and after you have installed these new drivers, reboot, and see if the WiFi/BT is working, if its not then "Press the Fn+F3 keys instantaneously or just the F3 Key" to activate WiFi and Bluetooth, simple!
