Hi, My Acer Nitro 5 I've had for almost 2 years now has developed a little problem, it's been happening for a while, whenever I unplug the charger on the laptop, the battery always dies after about 5 mins and it's not charging about 75%, I looked on the Battery Settings and it said estimated battery life of 10 mins, why? Also my bios and drivers are up-to-date, please help this problem is so annoying.

Edit: It's currently charging at 78%

  • Hello! First try uninstalling these drivers:

Then, open the ram compartment, and place a few layers of electrical tape over this button:

Hey guys thank you so much for your replies, I've tried the driver thing yet it still doesn't work, and the Ram Compartment where this button is meant to be is a piece of sponge and it looks fine to me, I've ran a battery health check and it says this:

Yet the problem only started happening after a few months???

You should have used your warranty when it started happening and had the battery replaced. If you are still under warranty do it now, if not you will have to buy a new battery. When you have a new laptop or new battery it is important to condition the battery properly, fully charge the battery before turning on for the 1st time then unplug and let the battery discharge to just below 10% and fully recharge again and repeat every 3 months or so. Also always game with your battery fully charged BEFORE gaming and KEEP plugged in while gaming, this will not harm your battery because charging shuts off at 100% then trickle charges when the battery falls to around 98%. If you game on battery alone the CPU puts a lot of stress on the battery and the CPU will only operate at 50%. Never let your battery fully discharge and use AC power whenever possible.
If you do these things you will get optimal battery life.

  • Check the battery status with hwinfo64. In addition, version 1.28 of the bios adds some support for the battery. What is the version of the bios?
