Hi

I've just bricked my Aspire E5-575G-534G by using the Windows flash util to put the BIOS back to v1.04 (the initial 2016 BIOS release, on my 2017 manufactured device).

I was flashing back to an old BIOS because it was intermittently starting up with a garbled screen, but now it powers on to a black screen, so I've very much made the situation a lot worse.  This worked on a previous Acer laptop I had a problem with, but not this one!

I've followed the steps from a post in the following thread, using the latest v1.47 BIOS it had on prior to the failed BIOS, but to no avail:

https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/500377/acer-aspire-e5-571-5940-black-screen-after-bios-flash

  • Format a USB Stick with FAT16 (therefore, use a stixk with max 2 GB)
  • make it bootable using diskpart, see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200124(v=ws.11).aspx
  • download bios 1.11 from acer website. This comes as an executable, extract the files from this with some unzip tool
  • copy all the extracted files to the usb stick
  • rename the .fd file on the USB stick to Z5WAHx64.fd
  • put the USB stick into the Laptop (i used the port on the right-hand-side)
  • Press Fn+ESC, press power, let go of power, let go of Fn+ESC

I figured this hasn't worked because:
a) I don't have a 2GB USB stick, so I've had to format my only 8GB stick using FAT32, or
b) The suggested .fd filename (Z5WAHx64.fd) contains the sub-version (Z5WA) from the model the OP was using, which is from a totally different model to mine.

When I hold Fn+Esc while powering on, I get a flashing blue LED and hear the fan spin up to full momentarily, then pause and it spins up to full again for a few seconds, then just sits there with a flashing blue LED.

Does anybody know how I can rectify this dismal situation, please?  Thank you!

It’s bricked mate, sorry but no real help to offer. You could try disconnecting the CMOS battery

Please click YES if I answered your question

I am not an ACER employee
Thank you and have a blessed day  B)
