Acer Aspire 5 won't properly wake up from sleep

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 5 laptop with an issue. Today I wiped my second SSD (one that I use to boot) and reinstalled Windows because somehow that installation got corrupted. I have Windows running again but the problem comes with waking up from sleep. When I open the lid, the screen will stay blank for quite a while with keyboard lights/fan on, and then reboot after about 10 seconds. Occasionally it will say something about Windows not shutting down properly and something about spaceport.sys file being corrupted. There's numerous posts online of this same issue but I haven't been able to find an answer. What is causing the sleep issue and why does it occasionally bring up that corrupt error?

EDIT: I've found resources online that say it could be needing to update the graphics driver, reinstall the ram, change some power options, etc. Are any of these the solution? I've tried a few.

It would be interesting, if you informed the exact model of the notebook. Example A515-51-58VH.

Does the system tab of the event viewer show any specific errors? You can search for the error, based on the time the problem occurs. Also, are there any drivers with problems in the device manager? What is the version of the bios?

There is a Kernel-Power error that I found under the critical errors. It seems that corresponds to my issue. Looked in device manager and all drives look okay. I'm not sure about BIOS version, it should be whatever came with the device. Does this show under F2?

Enter system information in the cortana and check the bios version. It would be interesting to know if the same problem occurs when using the notebook on the battery as well. Also try to check if there are any outdated drivers on the amd website and also try to disable fast start up in the power options.

I happened to research on how to fix Kernel-Power error and one of the things was to update the driver for the graphics card. I saw this somewhere else also but I tried it and it seems to be working again. I just need to enable fast startup again from when I was diagnosing before but I believe that won't break it again.

I hope it doesn't happen again. However, if your notebook has an SSD installed, it is recommended to disable fast start up. Keep testing and also post the bios version here.

If the laptop already came with an SSD preinstalled, why is fast startup enabled? What's the downsides to keeping this enabled? I looked up the BIOS and it's "Insyde Corp. V1.05, 6/29/2019"

SSds have a useful life based on the amount of writing and reading. Even though current SSDs have greater durability than first generation (older) SSDs, fast start up usually uses hibernation. That's why I find it interesting to disable fast start up on SSDS, so that it doesn't consume more storage.
