Hi,

I bought the laptop this month and didn't use it so much. I have 256gb SSD, 1T HDD, 16Gb Ram, GTX 1650. The laptop is supposed to last 5-6hours. I know it's basicly lies but my battery life really sucks. When fully charged, it announces me around 2h of battery life. I use High Performance options. When changing to normal, it doesn't change much.
The laptop used by default the GTX 1650. I read that it consumes more power. I changed it to the Intel graphic card and directly saw my autonomy change up to 5hours but it lasted for 5 minutes, until it got 2hours again. How should I improve it?

I also already drained the battery 3x from 100% to low level like 10-15%.
Has someone an explaination? for this very low battery life?

Thanks

Hi, Sorry to hear about the issue. Kindly try to do the follow steps and post your results.

      Power Drain and BIOS RESET

    1) Unplug the AC power adapter.

    2) Press and hold the Power button down until the unit goes off.

    3) Search for a pinhole that has a battery symbol next to it on the backside of your laptop, insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole, press and  hold it down for 25 seconds. Then release the paperclip.

    4) When the unit is off completely, press the power to turn on the unit.

    5) Immediately keep on tapping the F2 to enter the BIOS.

    6) In the BIOS, press F9 to reset the BIOS to setup defaults.

    7) At the confirmation screen, press Enter for Yes to load the default configuration.

    8) Press F10 to save your changes, and restart the system. Select Yes and press ENTER to confirm. The system will restart.

Also try uninstalling and re-installing the battery drivers of the unit, follow the steps below:

    1) In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.

    2) Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the battery driver, and select Uninstall.

    3) Restart your PC.

    4) Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Hi, thank you for the quick answer!
But before I follow your steps, I want to know what does a Bios reset imply? Will I lose any file I have or any installation I made?
Are there any risks of ending with a "badder" result?

Sorry for the suspicion! I want to be sure before doing it...

I see that it's not necessarily recommended to reset the BIOS to default settings...? Sorry I can't edit my previous post!

On battery you need to use "Balanced" not "High Performance" also kill all unneeded background Apps and processes. You are right, resetting the BIOS or doing a Battery reset has nothing to do with getting the most from your battery

Ok I'll do but I know it doesn't improve much my autonomy.

High Performance should NEVER be used on battery only, it is a feature for AC mains

Yeah my battery still isn't wonderful. You can enable your intel graphic card instead of the nvidia graphic card. It helps gaining time if youre not intensively using your laptop... But I never managed to reach the 6hours announced its bullsh*t

the battery life is like ink cartriges: last 200 pages with draft and 1% ink cover.  the same with the battery: it last 10 hours while idle.

    Hello
I have recently purchased acer aspire 7.on the first day it gave me decent 3 hrs battery life on normal usage but the next day onwards after I installed solidworks, it was reduced to 1.45 Hr even on normal usage. I disabled background running apps and also disabled startup apps... But no use. Can you please tell me how to fix this
