Predator G9-792 Was stuck in boot loop. Now screen won't turn on
Hey guys
I've got a 17.3" Predator G9-792 that I bought almost 4 years ago. A bit old now but still ran flawlessly until about a month ago. I had it on overnight and when I checked on it in the morning it had completely frozen. So I tried turning it off and back on but it was stuck in a boot loop. The Predator logo would display and I could access the bios page normally, but immediately after, it would restart itself endlessly.
Things I tried while this was happening:
-Countless power cycles, including trying to let it attempt the automatic startup repair.
-More power cycles using the battery disconnect button
-Restoring windows from USB (there's no recovery partition on the ssd) - this also wouldn't boot.
-removing and reseating all RAM sticks, using one by one in different slots
- "resetting" BIOS setting from BIOS menu
-disabling quick boot and virtually every other BIOS option available from the menu
-removing and reseating BIOS battery
-generally checking pretty much every connection under the hood
Nothing really changed the entire time. It would always stay on a boot loop until I turned it off manually or unplugged the power cord.
I've been periodically trying to turn it on since then to see if anything fixed itself (I've seen weirder things happen) but recently it has gotten even worse to the point that the screen doesnt even turn on now. The power turns on and stays on, but doesnt appear to attempt to boot at all anymore and no screen activity whatsoever. No change using HDMI or anything either.
At this point, the only thing I can think of is that the motherboard is fried.
If anyone has any other guesses or suggestions, I would be very very grateful!
