hello I have an acer aspire 315-54k and I am stuck at preparing automatic repair. Also i have tried to press alt f10 multiple times which leads me to the please wait screen and afterwards the message with : windows couldn't fix your problem and it tries to restart it which then leads me back to the preparing automatic repair. I don't know what else to do . Thank you

Press and hold the power button till the machine turns off. Remove the charger. Then gently insert a paperclip into the battery reset pinhole on the bottom for about 10 seconds. Then plug the charger back in. Then turn the machine back on. Jack E/NJ

I tried it but to no avail. I got the preparing automatic repair again. I have a feeling that i messed something up in device manager by accidentally deleting a feature could that be it?
  • what driver did you delete?

Kinda doubt it. Why were you 'messing' around DeviceManager anyway? Jack E/NJ

Was there a reason for trying to make changes in Device Manager? How did this 'accidentally' happen? Jack E/NJ

My touchpad wasn't working due to water damage and I tried to see if it shows up in the device manager tab, afterwards there was a driver with an exclamation sign and i uninstalled it and restarted my laptop. And also when i try the alt f10 key it goes to please wait and i get the error with the restart which says driver pnp watchdog. I know it all sounds very stupid and I probably made a mistake but is there anything else I can do ?
  • You should have reported that you spilled liquid. I suggest you turn off the notebook immediately and check if the water has reached the motherboard.

Could my hard disk be damaged and needs replacing?
  • You should open the notebook to see what has actually been damaged, taking the laptop to a service center for repair.

I agree with egydiocoelho that it should be diagnosed with a  estimated repair cost by a service or repair center. It's very difficult to determine what  got damaged on this forum from a liquid spill. The fact that the ALT+F10 cold boot reset failed strongly suggests that hardware damage has  occurred. My last option was to download media creation tool on an usb and try to boot from there, I did all the steps pressed f12 and pressed enter to access the media from the usb, it takes me to the acer logo again and then crashes and goes back to the blue screen with the message of something went wrong and we will restart your computer. I guess that's it and I should take it to a repair centre ?
