Can my Aspire 7741g accept any Ram memory with the specifications that supports the computer?

I want to upgrade my Ram to 8G... after research I know I need dd3 1333 204 pin sodimm

Corsair CMSA8GX3M2A1333C9 8GB 1333MHz CL9 DDR3 So-Dimm Mac Memory Kit

I know that someone has used Corsair CM0A8GX3M2A1333C9 with equal specfication with success, aren't they essentially the same, or the above is only for mac computers.

Also I found here in this forum of sucessful upgrade with a samsung ram, but I cannot find the exact model number on the product. but has again the same specifications.

Hi Aphanic, very kind from you for the information!
I dismissed the 1600 speed with crucial as one user failed with it.
The YouTube video i saw suggested as max speed 1333
yes mine is i5 480
then I can just get the one with the specifications I know regardless it says is for mac

Careful, I wouldn't trust that data.

Looking at the official spec sheet for the processor in there (or those of that era) while they do support a maximum of 8GB that's not the correct clock speed of the memory for them. They can run on DDR3 at 800 or 1066 MHz, Crucial may be recommending that because they may not manufacture lower things right now, or maybe they have it wrong.

While it's true that you can DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600 in there most likely, they'll be running at a lower speed; so my recommendation is knowing the max. limit and knowing the max. clock speed (I looked at an i5 480M, check with Intel if your processor is different) buy whatever is cheaper for you.

Brand doesn't actually matter, as long as the memory is according to spec that's it. Same goes for those Mac branded sticks, it's BS, sometimes just a marketing gimmick, and sometimes it just means that they were tested in a make and validated so they know for sure it works.

But be it a Mac or a PC, look for whatever the processor / motherboard supports, buy whatever is cheap (or expensive if you're looking for performance) that adheres to those specs and you're gold.
