Hi,
From what I have gathered, my recently acquired laptop (it rocks!) can have, apart from the included mechanical 2tb hdd, an extra drive. However, I have not been able to find here or elsewhere what exact extra internal drive is supported, and up to what capacity. Ideally I would like a 1tb extra drive, but I would not like to buy a drive only to find that it exceeds the maximum capacity.
Any pointers?
Thank you, and have a great day!

    Hi @Manholoz
Yes I agree with you, I have seen others installing 1TB, 2TB M.2 SSDs while the recommended size was either 256GB or 512GB but they were different models, I haven't seen anyone installing a larger drive in this model, recommended maximum size is the one Acer may have tested with.

    Good evening Manholoz !

Actually Acer does not recommend but tests up to a certain capacity SSDs.
In the PCIe NVMe standard there is a lower limit due to non-standardization of technology that generates incompatibilities.
In the Sata 3 standard, there is no such limit as current controllers and chipsets are fully supported.
I already installed factor 2280 SSDs in 2Tb capacities without the slightest problem.

    Hi,
The maximum recommended size is 256GB, as a boot drive you don't need larger drive than that, you can migrate the OS to it and use it as your boot drive while you make use of the 2TB HDD for storage.

brummyfan2, true enough as a boot drive, however, several programs can make it a pain to separate your data folders from your boot folder (such as pretty much every Autodesk program). I DO know how to do symbolic folder links and Windows made it a bit easier to change some default folder locations, but I would rather just have a big ssd with installs pointing to the default locations and using the 2tb drive as a data folder.
That is why I am curious is something bigger than 256gb is supported..
