M.2 slot not available

Is it possible that an open M.2 slot is not active in the AN515-43?  I purchased a 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 to populate the open M.2 slot but the system does not recognize the drive.  Support indicated that it is not listed as a compatible drive but I've never heard of this before.  When I check which drives to select, it indicated NVMe which is what the drive is.  They recommended one from Kingston but I can't find the part number provided.  This model does not allow for a typical SSD so my only option is to add another M.2 for more storage.   Was I supposed to do something while installing the M.2 so that it could be recognized?

My apologies you are quite right, I was writing an answer for a different model at the same time and mixed the two answers up  =)

When I do a search for M.2 drives for the AN515-43, it indicates NVMe as the only option.  The Samsung that I have is NVMe.

Please disregard.  I was unaware that M.2 also comes in SATA and that is what is compatible with my system for slot 2.

Thanks for the response, however, slot 2 is only SATA and not NVMe.  I found that out by trying an NVMe drive that was not recognized.  But I do appreciate the reply.
