Help! - My CD/DVD drive on my "Acer V-17 Nitro - Black Edition" is not in Device Manager!!

My computer runs on Windows 10 and after a recent update,  my CD/DVD drive no longer works.  It does not show up in Device Manager, and not when you select hidden items.  It's just not there....  I am not sure how to fix it.  I tried to reset my computer and re-installed Windows 10, and did a new update but it still does not recognize the DVD/CD drive.  Here is the kerfuffle -  I cannot access the BIOS to boot from a recovery drive because I have forgotten the BIOS password!!!  So a clean wipe and reload is not an option.  System restore will not work due to a missing file.  Will not complete successfully.  In short - I guess I am up the creek no?  If anyone has any ideas please let me know!  I would like to use the CD/DVD Drive again.  Thanks for your input! -KnightOfCups

Try the ALT+F10 cold boot reset as shown in the video below. If it still doesn't work, remove one screw on the bottom that's in line with the DVD drive and reseat the drive a few times to try to clean its contacts. Jack E/NJ
