Hey guys,
A month ago I purchased Acer Helios 300, exact model PH315-52, and as everyone else I have been having the problem of fans being too loud at idle.
I went through most of the questions on the forum about fixes for this problem and I believe the latest and best solution is from @belik who suggested a replacement of the aeroblade fan with a standard plastic one, the same as on the CPU. I tried to look for the plastic fan model but most of the results that I found were for the older Helios 300 g3-572 (aliexpress and ebay).
I believe belik suggested fan model NS85C06 - can I ask where you got the information that this is the fan because I wasn't able to find much about NS85C06. Also the price I found for this one is 35-40$, unlike the suggested 20$.
So do you have any other suggestions about the fans or and are the fans for the old Helios 300 g3-572 compatible with the new Helios 300 PH315-52, because those are more widespread and I've found a lot more offers for 5-15$ price on aliexpress and ebay. Also if there are any more recent solutions to the idle fan noise I'd be open to trying them out.
Thank you.

NS85C06 is the model of the fan which is written on fan itself

Acer’s partnumber is FAN.RIGHT 23.Q5MN4.002 and their price is $35-40

But beware that two plastic fans will be too weak under heavy load like games on auto, you may want to turn on Coolboost at least and even to repaste

"...as everyone else I have been having the problem of fans being too loud at idle."

    Everyone? No.

Sound is a very subjective thing. To my ears, the sound at idle is quite reasonable on my machine. I can hear it humming...I know it's on, but to me it's not loud. Of course, I can't hear your fans (and certainly not through your ears) so I'm not trying to discount your experience. :)

For my own curiosity, what are your idle temps?  At those temps, what are your fans spinning at? I'd hate to see you replace a fan when a thermal paste do-over might solve the problem. Or perhaps something else is going on. For reference, attached are mine as I type this...

Thank you for your quick response. For now, I haven't had problems with the temperatures but merely with the annoying sound that the aeroblade produces. Furthermore, while on load/playing games, I don't mind putting the fans to the max, I only mind the sound of the fans while the laptop is on idle. I tried to compare the noise from both fans at the same RPM, and the aeroblade was producing this high pitched sound whereas the plastic fan had a more dampened sound.
I read in a different question that someone suggested using a coffee filter as a means to dampen the noise produced from the gpu fan, do you have any more recent experience with that?
I also uploaded my idle temps and fan speeds, after I start working on something, even when not very intensive it usually goes to 2040rpm cpu and 2460 rpm for the gpu.

Yep on cold boot fans will be fine at 1700+2200 but once CPU reached 45C they switch to 2000+2500 and only when cpu reaches 37C back they will switch to 1700+2200

If your are ok to increase fans manually during a load or game then replacing fan will suite very well

Your idle at 2100Mhz and 0.75v is very good, is it 1809 windows? In 1909 it wants to run at 3.5-4Ghz which results I higher temps

Yes currently I am running windows 1809. I also have some throttlestop profiles that sometimes depending on battery or ac restrict the frequency of the CPU.
Could you suggest any vendor that deals with Acer parts and is located in Europe, because I am located in the Netherlands and I would need the fan shipped there?
Also, @belik, could you upload a screen shot of the idle/minimum load temperatures (35-45C) and fan speeds for your laptop with two plastic fans. Thanks

Also something else which I cannot really explain the reason behind it is a "buzzing sound" that sometimes is produced by the aeroblade. It usually starts when I play games and the fans are under higher load, however, it doesn't occur always. I was trying to test and find out the reason behind it and I think it's some kind of resonance because it only happens when the laptop is placed on a hard surface, when I lift it up it's not buzzing-rattling. Also sometimes  when the buzzing is not present, if I put pressure, for example on the keyboard on the right side, I can also hear the fan due to the pressure applied to the keyboard or the laptop chassis on the right. Why do you think this buzzing occurs and what do you think I should do about it?

Tikisin you can get the plastic fans on aliexpress or similar there are loads for the older 2017/18 models dunno about the new ones probably more hard to find just search for the part number u might find it who knows (unless you want to buy acer original parts) also you realize your voiding your warranty by changing any stock hardware components (even if you dont have any warranty stickers/seals on it) the aeroblades 4th gen owl wing tip design tends to create a buzz sound sometimes on idle sometimes on high rpm its completely normal (sound doesnt bother me at all its a gaming laptop it was meant to be noisy it would be a bad sign it it wasnt would mean the cooling system wouldnt be working properly) only way to get rid of the high noise and buzz its to void the warranty and replace both fans with plastic delta

PS: i dont know any acer parts partner in EU that would supply parts outside the service centers but you can pm @Kev0806 directly he is an acer parts partner and will have the parts you need

Gaming laptop doesn’t mean to be noisy on low load at all nowdays.

If you take Helios’s major competitor lenovo Y540, it’s extremely quiet, you can install windows in total silence while while Acer will whine all the process.

Moreover, performance of Y540 is better, in Cinebench R15 in loop it scores 1200 points in average and Helios just 1150 in standard mode, this is due to locked PL to 45W.

So to the end Helios’ performance is worse with noise much higher.

And both are gaming laptops with 9750H and RTX 2060.

Definetly, Acer must do their job and do follwoing
    1) Adjust fan curve table
    2) Adjust PL
    3) Adjust undervolt even further to -.125 or allow user to change it without overwritten by PS. Mine can handle -.165 even with memory at 3000Mhz.
Then and only then this laptop will be ideal  =)

@Tikisin Open list of authorized repair services on Acer website and order it from them, tell them exact part number. In few weeks they should send it to you.

belik the lenovo major competitor lol i dont think so with also thermal issues on their models and also throttling cutting down the performance its not even near the predators at all (in mine and many others views) but if you think so everyone its entitled to their own opinion you should also check all the complaints on their forum you will see loads and loads also any undervolt set by PS can be undervolted further using TS it will automatically overwrite any PS setup  and you cant rely on any benchmarks as these have nothing to do with real gaming performance  especially if your playing a bad optimized high demanding game

    Anyway happy new year :)

Of coz this is competitor and very strong one
And this is not an opinion this is raw facts, y540 outperforms ph315-52 in Cinebench, 1200 pts vs 1150. And during cpu only load lenovo doesn’t throttle.
Well there is one trick that I can boost power limit in Helios from 45 to 56W (manually in xtu or by activating extreme profile in PS or by pressing turbo button) and then I get 1280 pts on Helios which outperforms lenovo  =)

As for combined cpu+gpu load aka games I cant compare directly mine due to different graphic cards but y540 is already has big advantage due to possibility to disable optimus, optimus eats around 4-5W out of 45W cpu power.

And Happy New Year too  B)

    You know you were right!

I just applied a tape on some openings and it dropped the noise significantly

I didn’t try a test yet but hope it won’t make a difference in temperatures since those are not air intake openings

Could you share a picture of the openings that you taped over so I know which are the ones that are not really used for air intake.

it’s under cpu and cpu fan is inverted and it makes additional noise not only from fan itself but also awful whining noise due to air moving
this is just a big design fault

Unfortunately covering it by tape rises temperatures by 5C so it’s not a right solution

    Hi guys.
I've got a question for yoy
Unfortunately, today when cleaning my laptop with compressed air, I damaged the fan CPU :(:anguished:(this is a little advice for others not to use too strong air too close to the fan)
In previous posts, I found information where and how to buy the original fan but, I have a different question is ... it any possible to install a fan with metal blades, such as a GPU fan ??? and it is necessary to remove the entire cooling system for replacement the CPU fan ???
    Thanks ;)

Luki_1232 best advice to everyone and as i always said never use compressed air to clean fans you will damage them if u dunno what youre doing the best way its to clean them normally as it should be if possible or send it to acer to get it cleaned and yes you can but the aeroblades are acer proprietary you cannot buy them anywhere else only from acer parts partners and they arent cheap either contact acer to find out the nearest parts partner or pm @Kev0806 he will sort you out and no you dont need to remove everything to replace the fans they can be disassembled/replaced individually without removing the heatsink good luck :)

    Thanks xapim for answer.
This is not the first laptop I own, and not the first computer / laptop I have cleaned. I just did not realize that some components are made of .... shi.. ??? Really, blade thickness is the thickness of the sheet of paper :o:o so I don't know if this is technology AeroBlade 3D  :p=)
Currently, I using my laptop normal, the temperatures are normal, so when the warranty period expires, I will change the fan and change thermal paste.
    Thanks ;)

Luki_1232 if its metal its aeroblade (usually the gpu only) if its plastic its normal delta fan for the cpu also aeroblade thechnology its acer proprietary no other manufacturer has it thats why the predators have a great cooling system (2019//20 only) and can have full max p gpus unlike many other well known manufacturers that because they cant control the thermals properly with their cooling systems they have to opt by the downclocked max-q gpus (in my personal view a waste of money i would never buy a max-q only full max p gpu) in order to have lower temps :)
