Acer GN246HL 144Hz monitor is stuck at 60Hz

Hello. I have bought this monitor(GN246HL) with a GTX 1660 gaming oc GPU having 3x DisplayPort and 1x HDMI and I am trying to get the monitor to work on 144Hz. From what I read online, it looks like the monitor will not work at 144Hz with a HDMI cable, as I am having only 60Hz or lower options(with a 2.0), so I have bough a DVI to DisplayPort adapter so I can connect the GPU on displayPort but now the only option available is 60Hz. I have updated my GPU drivers and everything but I did not found anything online. Is there a solution to make this work on 144Hz?

It sounds like the only way to get the 144hz is to only use the dvi connections; meaning that your gpu would also have to have a dvi connection. read this post: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/display-port-to-dual-link-dvi-or-hdmi-to-dual-link-dvi-for-144hz.3172195/
it sounds like you got a passive dvi to dp adapter which will only ever get you 60hz. As the post reads, you might be able to get an active dvi to dp adapter but it looks like they are finicky at best. 
best bet is to get a monitor that has dp 1.4 connections and pairs well with you GPU
