Lag and stutter with external monitor (PH315-52)

Hi

I recently purchased a Helios 300 PH315-52 (1660 ti) which is a fantastic machine for its value but I've been experiencing a noticible lag/stutter when I connected it to a external monitor.

The problem occurs only when I turn on the laptop for first time (cold boot). I've found a temporary solutions:
1. Restarting the laptop will fix the lag/sttutter until next boot.
2. Enabling/disabling intel hd 630 from device manager also fix the problem until next boot.

I know that two solutions fix the problem but I really want a permanent solution.

I connect the laptop to the monitor (LG 24mp59-g) using a mini DisplayPort to regular DisplayPort cable (Amazon basics brand). Also, I use the option: Only secondary display
I updated both graphics drivers: nvidia 441.66 version, intel 26.20.100.7584
Windows 10 build: 18363

dhub92 try connecting directly to dp port or even hdmi and see if the issue persists but its normal to have some kind of lag on external displays depending on the display itself also your display its just a 60/75hz so i wouldnt expect much from it except the size its the only thing youre upgrading here and if your laptop its a 144hz display you are downgrading instead of upgrading

I didn't know that lag/stutter was normal when the laptop is connected to an external monitor (it's the first time it happens to me). If it is normal, why the lag/stutter disappear when I apply one of the temporary solution that I posted earlier ?

I forgot to mention it, I disabled Fast Boot in the power options but it doesn't fix the problem....

I tried connecting the laptop using the HDMI port to the monitor and a TV but the lag/stutter is still there.

dhub92 Well either the issue its the external display itself (try another external display if you have a chance to) or the laptop so your other option its to backup everything you need create a stock recovery usb drive via acer care center to keep safe (16gb usb drive needed) and perform a stock recovery clean install select delete everything option check here and good luck

I think that is an overkill solution for this issue but thanks anyway.

dhub92 try a stock recovery clean install to rule out any software issues first if the issue persists after its either your display or the laptop hardware itself (but for this you would had to try another display to rule out the laptop hardware or make sure its the issue after all)

I have the same issue when I connect my display to my monitor (144hz).

I start my laptop with the display connected and my laptop's lid shut. Then it is working smooth, after something happens like the computer goes to sleep and I resume it lags or I disconnect my power cable and put it back, it lags. These two scenarios is where I have to signout signin into my windows 10 to bring the smoothness back again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Similar issue here.

After coming back from Sleep mode, the external HDMI monitor feels laggy (regardless of being connected to HDMI or Display Port).

If I open the lid, it seems to work just fine. But the moment I close the lid it gets laggy again.

In my case, restarting does not fix it. Only Shutting the laptop down and turning it on again, will fix the problem with external monitors.

Asensio12 khayargoli if youre duplicating/extending the displays dont use it as external only disable the internal also as i have said above avoid using sleep mode just doesnt work properly and never will and make sure youre directly connected to the hdmi/dp ports without any adapters

I'm not duplicating the displays, the reason I use external display is for the bigger size (to play games).

Asensio12 as i said dont use sleep i dont see really the point of the sleep mode on laptops at all as hibernate does it much better and much faster for those who whish such a mode which these days no one really needs it ssds are fast enough to boot up in seconds hibernate its good for devices still booting the OS from the slower hdd's u just sacrifice a few gb from your hdd for the hibernation page file and you go from 10mnts booting to just seconds with everything you left open ready to use i have fixed the speed of many laptops with still hdd and low on ram using this method until the owners decide to upgrade both

I never had any issues with my X27 its always on 24/7 non stop and setup directly to use the external display only
