Hi,

I have a Predator Helios PH315-52

When I push certain keys on the KB it adds a character such as when I push x I get /x, when I push - I get -5. I plugged in an e/xternal usb kb and the problem does not happen so I am thinking its a fault in the KB. I contacted ACER and they want me to ship the computer in. I am hoping for a faster solution, any suggestions?

  • Hi,
Go to Device manager, expand Keyboards, highlight and right click Standard PS/2 keyboard, go to Properties and uninstall the driver in Driver tab, reboot and let Windows install the driver.
If that doesn't help, go to Acer support site, download Serial IO driver, then go to Device manager, expand System Utilities, uninstall the driver for Intel Serial IO Host controller and install the downloaded driver. HTH.

I see 3 different Serial IO Host Controllers
Intel(R) Serial IO GPIO Host Controller - INT3450
    Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - A368
    Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - A369

Should I delete all of these?

    Hi @Sylace
    Uninstall INT3450 driver.
@brummyfan2 Ok tried both of these options, unfortunately no change. I appreciate the suggestions though.
  • Have you tried updating the bios?

@egydiocoelho I updated the BIOS when I bought it and the latest file I see if from before I bought it.
  • OK! Although not a problem with function keys, is there a function called function key behavior in bios? If so, try changing to special or media key and make sure the problem remains. If it remains, try resetting the battery: https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset

Im guessing I just need to replace the KB as the external KB works fine, what erks me is they wont send me a replace KB, they insist on it being shipped out and they advised 7-10 Business days to repair... That with Shipping is about 3 weeks. Way to long for a 10 minute KB replacement...
  • Have you tried my tips above?
