WASD trackpad delay. Acer Helios Predator 300 PH315-52

Hi! I’m a college student who just recently cashed out on my first gaming laptop. I don’t currently have enough money to buy a mouse so I’m using my trackpad for the time being. I haven’t put much on it yet aside from Minecraft and Fortnite because I’m familiar with the titles, but I’ve run into an issue concerning my trackpad and WASD keys.

If I am walking or running in game using my WASD keys there is a delay (or I guess more of occasional lack of response) in my trackpad. This basically means I will be running and attempt to look at an object using the track pad via swiping in its direction and my player will continue to look straight. Sometimes it will turn its “head” and look in the direction but often times it doesn’t and it makes me pretty bad at aiming while shooting or even navigating through woods in Minecraft. This issue is not present when I use my arrow keys. I turned the mouse delay off on my trackpad which reduced the issue but it’s still noticeable when I play.

I’ve noticed that with the WASD keys and trackpad I have to hold my finger down and not pick it up for my player to look around, if I lift my finger the trackpad will not respond when I put it down again while using the WASD keys unless I leave it and stroke without losing contact with the trackpad. When I use the arrow keys I can lift my finger up and flick and it will move without issue.

I can try to provide a screen recording if that helps. Has anyone had a similar issue? What can I do? My driver settings on my trackpad are up to date. Thank you for your responses! I’m a bit computer illiterate as I’m really new to PC gaming but any input is appreciated.

It's normal I guess. Similar thing happens with my PC as well while playing with the touchpad. You really need to get a mouse, be it a gaming or non-gaming one.
