Model: Acer Nitro AN515-51
CPU: Core i5 7300HQ
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (2 GB)
RAM: 8 GB DDR4, Single Channel(module Bandwidth 2400 MHz)
Can I get a 16 GB DDR4 module to work along with the 8 GB Module for a total of 24 GB of RAM? What all do I need to keep in mind when buying(if possible of course) a 16 GB DDR4 RAM?
Also, is it possible for this combination(8+16) to run on Dual Channel?

    Hi @biraj_ghosh

Yes it possible for this combination to run on Dual Channel, you have two slots (one occupied by current 8GB RAM)

No it does not all run in dual channel. With 8 x 16gb. Only 8gb x 8gb will run in dual channel, the remaining 8gb will run in single channel. This is why it is better to match RAM size that way all available memory runs dual channel. Mismatched RAM can work fine but it can also cause problems. Acer officially only support equal RAM in both slots or a single stick up to 16gb in one slot with the other empty

    Yes, your options are

    1. Buy a matching 8gb  and put it in the other slot for 8 x 8 total 16gb
    2. buy 2 x 16gb, put one in each slot for a total of 32gb and throw away or sell the installed 8gb stick

@andylb does this mean I cannot have any memory setup above 16 GB and below 32 GB?

Sorry ignore the red boxes I was just trying to highlight how it works. You can have a max of 16gb x 16gb for 32gb total, look at the bottom line

@andylb Yes but I dont really want to buy just an 8 GB I kinda want a little more that. My only options seem to be:
#To remove the current 8 GB and replace with 2 new 16 GB modules to get 32 GB
#To buy just an 8 GB and add it to the other slot thereby having 8(existing)+8(new) =16 GB of RAM.

    Am I getting this right?
