Hello Team,

I have purchased the "Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 Model: PH315-52-78VL" just last week and i would like to setup RAID 0 for it.
I have 2 of Silicon Power 512GB NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 2280 TLC

Can you please help me to prepare that.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Pain First of all you have to have it setup in the bios and probably reinstall windows from scratch to get it configured in raid 0 (my advice i wouldnt if one of the drive fails you will loose everything because the all data files are shared /split between both and cant be recovered if one fails well technically can but only by specialists and it would cost a fortune) so its your own decision if you still want to go raid or not like i said i wouldnt :)

    Dear xapim,

Thank you for your response but how can i do it from the bios can you guide me with the steps to do it.

I saw many threads about setting up the raid but in the predator bios doesn't have the same options.

FYI: I have updated the bios to the latest version 1.08

Depending or your exact model you should have a sata ahci or raid option in the bios if no try via intel rst on windows but as i said if it was me i wouldnt build a raid 0 array as you never know what could happen raid 1 yes but 0 not for me its true you end up by extending your space but the downside if something goes wrong or the array breaks somehow there goes all the data especially now with windows updates that keep screwing up :)

Pain usually its one of the rst options both should technically give you raid when you perform a fresh install but try first on windows with intel rst see if you can create an array without having to clean install everything from scratch

    Dear xapim,

unfortunately it didn't work from the BIOS, i tried to do it with IRST it worked but when i tried to test the speed it was reading for 1 drive only. and drive software didn't recognize it also.

Is there any way to do it properly through the bios, and someone from Acer Team can help with that instructions it would be much appreciated.

Pain you would have to completely format it to a clean install in raid mode as i stated already but if your goal its to improve the speed probably it wont improve as much as youre thinking 2 drives in raid 0 (depending of the drive types) would definitely increase the total allocated space and its also true it would technically increase the read write speed as the data its separated in bits by the both drives but might not reach your expectations :) just take a look at these benchmarks and of course those are done on good desktop hardware regarding gaming laptops you cant say that you would even get similar results or not

     Dear Xapim,

I have did a complete format and installed Windows in Raid 0 after setting it up with IRST.

     Dear Belik,

There is nothing in the User Manuel mentioned about RAID.
