Helios 300 (PH315-52) issues after bios update

I've had a Predator Helios 300 (PH315-52) for a little over 2 months now, and while trying to troubleshoot blue screen issues I updated the bios to version 1.06 from the version it shipped with. Version 1.06 was the most recent bios version at the time of the update and I downloaded it from the Acer support website. The only thing plugged into the laptop during the update was the power cord. The message on the screen said that the bios update was successful and when it rebooted it went right to the Windows desktop with no problems. I played some games on it for an hour or two and then shut it down for the night. I noticed it took a little longer than usual on the shutting down screen, but it didn't blue screen and did shut off by itself so I didn't think much of it. When I went to start it up the next morning, the keyboard backlight and fans came on but the screen remained completely blank with no backlight. I tried turning it off and on a few times, and tried the projector mode and display backlight keyboard shortcuts without success. I then took it to a local computer repair shop where I was told that it needed a new motherboard and that I should send it in to Acer for the repair.

Hoping to avoid having to ship the laptop out for repairs, I took it to another local computer repair shop for a second opinion. At the second repair shop, they were able to get it to boot after turning it off and on a few times and it went right to the Windows desktop again. This shop said it might be a hibernation problem. I had already disabled the fast startup option in the settings and after the laptop was back up I disabled hibernation using command prompt. Unfortunately the issue has persisted, meaning the laptop will eventually boot, but I'm having to turn it on and off several times (often 10 tries or more) before it will do so. It doesn't seem to matter if the power cord or any USB devices are plugged in or not. This issue doesn't affect restarting. When it does eventually boot, the keyboard backlight setting is back to shutting off after 30 seconds (I set it to always on) and cool boost is turned off (I set it to on).

I've been dealing with it for a couple weeks now, hoping I can either find a way to fix this or it will resolve on it's own, but I'm worried that booting it this way will eventually damage it. I've been researching a lot online and haven't been able to find anyone else having the same problem. So I was wondering if I should attempt to update the bios to version 1.08 or if it's time to just give up and send it in for repair? Or could this possibly be caused by a different issue?

Of coz update to 1.08 it’s quite good
also you can try to play with memory, try one stick, this behavior can be due to detecting memory

lonegraywolf reset your bios to default settings then upgrade to the latest and reset to defaults again see if the issue persists and as @belik stated above check your memory swap them etc

Updated the bios to version 1.08 and it appears to have possibly fixed the issue. If it starts doing this again I'll try swapping the memory. Thank you!

I don't think this is a problem. If laptop is working fine then there is no problem with 0 fan speed. Sometimes when laptop temperature are normal Predator sense may show 0 fan speed for CPU and GPU as well.

Siddharth111 if the fan its physically not working there is certainly a problem and i advise not to use it at all until its replaced and PS will never show the fans on 0 on the new 2019 H300 because the fans only switch off completely under 36/37 which that its almost impossible unless you repaste and tweak/mod it to the max (replace the aeroblade fans with delta plastic ones for ex off course this will void the warranty instantly) the fan curve its completely different much more aggressive from the 2017/18 models also the T500 as these ones the fans stop completely under 40 just for a bit until the temps come up again so you stating you think its not a problem its a really bad advice especially if u dunno the exact specs/curve settings about what exactly youre talking about because it is a serious problem its no joke

For your information the fans of the H300 2019 are always on 2400/2500 rpm thats the normal working of the laptop on idle i would be really concerned if they are stopped but its up to the OP to worry about it more than me its in his hands
