Helios 300 cannot play COD Modern Warfare: it gets over 97 degrees and shuts down. I reduced de core offset voltage to - 0.125, use the fans at maximum, and reduced graphics on the game. No use. After 5 minutes, it gets so hot I can't even touch the frame above the keys. I am plague by what appears to be a widespread problem with these specific laptops. Has Acer ever admitted a manufacturing defect?

msavage its not a manufacturing defect clean your fans and repaste basically everyone had done it and if had never done it before probably it was because you never played a high demanding game as the new COD before neither you had never cleaned your fans/exit airflow or repasted gaming laptops have to be repasted once per year if heavily used its the end user responsibility to maintain it its not a normal laptop it needs constant care if not properly maintained it will always give issues

msavage what is the exact model we are talking about 2017/18 or 2019 ???? bare in mind the cache/core undervolt settings have to exactly match and i suggest you to use TS instead of xtu of not already also have you optimized windows if after all this the issue persists your only solution its to repaste it with kryonaut or similar if you can open it without voiding the warranty if not you will have to send it for a repaste

It's a PH315-61 bought in 2018. The unit is out of warranty. It never did that before, shutting down because too hot... Now with COD Modern Warfare, I cannot play longer than 5 minutes. I did the stress test on XTU, and the CPU does not go over 75 degrees. Extremely annoying this manufacturing defect unaknowledged by the company. So much for social responsibility for Acer.
