Hey all. I just received my Predator Helios 300 today. Super excited!

Right out the box I got windows updated along with the drivers. Also installed a few essential programs (ccleaner, chrome, ublock, antivirus, etc). A few concerns did come up though.

1) Is it necessary to give the system a wipe to remove bloatware and reinstall windows from scratch? If not, will this affect the laptop's performance and if yes, are there follow up steps I should be aware of? The laptop did not come with any disc btw.

2) I had the laptop sitting on a single fan cooling pad when I opened PredatorSense and it said the system was at 160 F. Chrome was the only background program on and the laptop felt cool to the touch. I thought this was weird, should I be worried about this?

3) My SSD was listed 'Not Supported' when an attempt to get it checked at Acer Care Center. Is this a hardware issue?

**I managed to take a screenshot of the current temperature which is not as high as earlier, this time the RPM is undetected**

    Hi,

Congratulations for getting a new computer.    I will try my best to answer your questions.    First of all, your computer will  not be coming with recovery disks because inside your computer there is a place called recovery partition ( on your hard drive ) which itself will be acting like a disk.

Reinstalling windows is not necessary for new computer.   If you would like to remove any programs which you don't like you can try this..

    Try windows + r
on the run window type appwiz.cpl
It will show you the list of programs.
You can remove the programs you wish but please don't remove display, network and sound drivers.

    Step 2

If you would like to install any programs or applications

You can visit the website support.acer.com  - chose your country  - enter the snid - click on drivers  , applications.    It will show you the list of applications which are designed for your model.

Alternatively you can always get the recovery media by going to website,  support.acer.com - chose your country and click on store.

    Step 3

However, If you would like to do a recovery in the future please read the info given below

There are different ways of doing recovery.

Please remember if you do a recovery everything on the computer will be wiped out and it will become a brand new computer.

    Method 1

Press and hold the Power key for 5 seconds to power the system off completely.

Press the Power key to turn on the computer.

Press the Alt and F10 keys at the same time when the Acer logo appears on the screen. ...

    Select Troubleshoot.

Click Reset your PC. This process will erase all data on the your system.   You will see "keep my files" and  "Remove everything"

Choose the Refresh your PC option or "keep my files" if you want to restore your system and retain your data.  There will be an application loss if you chose "keep my files" option.

chose " remove everything " and click on "Just remove my files"

Click Reset to begin the recovery.

If the "just remove my files" option is not working you can try "fully clean the drive"

    Method 2

If you are able to boot the windows

click on start, settings, update and recovery, recovery, reset this pc

It will show you "keep my files " and "remove everything" to continue with the recovery process

    Method 3

You can start the recovery process using the recovery media which is designed for your computer.

It might be a set of cds or recovery flash drive which you can get it from Acer store.
