Hi All,
I've just purchased the above and am trying to run dual screen from the USBC -> HDMI...something which seems to been a problem elsewhere from the other queries but just in case anything has changed in the past 9 months?

Would like to confirm  if this is supposed to carry video as I can't get it to detect the monitor in Windows 10.   IN the specs it says....  USB Type-C 3.0 (3.1 Gen 1) (up to 5Gbps)

Thanks
Steve

    Good Morning Steve_Perth !

Your device has USB Type-C 3.0 (3.1 Gen 1) (up to 5 Gbps)

This connection is for non-video data only.

Gen2 only with thunderbolt support supports video

If by dual you mean two external monitors it may not possible directly in that model, as stated by @MaClane the USB-C port in the laptop implements USB 3.0, also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1 or USB 3.2 Gen 1×1, USB people like to complicate things...

For video to be transmitted through an USB-C port it'd need to implement an alternate mode as well (think of it as re-purposing some of the internal wires in USB 3 for different things) and judging by the lack of any logos indicating so near the port I'd guess the USB-C in that model implements none.

If you have the means to try (i.e. you have an external monitor that has a USB-C port with alt mode for DisplayPort), see if a USB-C to USB-C cable works as it's one of the oldest alternate modes that carry video signals. Other than that, you'll need to use an adapter to hook up a secondary external monitor to the laptop. I know there are ones (or used to be?) that work even off of an USB 2.0 interface, although I wouldn't expect to get 4K@60Hz if you used them with a USB 2.0 interface though haha.

I have Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G Laptop with one type C port & one HDMI port. The HDMI port supports one external monitor, buy one HDMI cable, connect it to your external Monitor/TV & change setting from Display Settings and its done!
