This 5738z is an older laptop, but I'm still getting good use out of it.  I'd like to upgrade the screen from 1366x768 to 1920x1080.  I know the onboard graphics has the capability.  I did open my machine up, and found it has the following screen, LTN156AT02-A02, with 40-pin LVDS cable.  Any help would be appreciated!  Even if you can point me to some other sites that I can do research on.  Thanks!

    Hi,

Checked the specifications for your computer model.  Please find the details related to display..

    Display and graphics • 16:9 aspect ratio • 15.6" HD 1366 x 768 • VGA Controller For Aspire 5738G/5738ZG/5738Z/5738/5338 Series: • Mobile Intel® GL40 Express Chipset* • Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset* • NVIDIA® GeForce® G105M* For Aspire 5536/5536G/5236 Series: • ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 Graphics* • AATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4570* • Screen resolution support • 1366*768 • 1280*768 • 1280*720 • 1024*768 • 800*600

It is a old laptop and the maximum display it support is 15.6" HD 1366 x 768

It is designed for 15.6" HD 1366 x 768 so you have two options.

You can either connect a external full hd monitor to this laptop or you can buy a brand new full hd laptop.

The 5738Z seems to have a bunch of different configurations.  I've seen versions listed that have DDR3 ram, and versions that have DDR2 ram (like mine).  Mine does not have a Radeon video, it uses the Intel 4500M integrated video.  I know it has the capability of 1920x1080, since I connecting it through HDMI, it can do this.  I have seen others post on this forum that they have gone from a laptop that came with 1366x768 to 1920x1080, so given all that, I think that this is more than possible.  I have noticed that the specs on the existing LCD indicate that it uses a single channel LVDS, so it may require me to get a dual channel LVDS cable to upgrade it.  I'm not a novice at this, I'm an electronics technician, and been building my own PCs for over 30 years, my suspicions tell me that this is possible.
