    Hello Whitegirl

When you connect the charger if you see any light than it indicates that the charger is connected and working.
Try to charge it for 30 min disconnect the charger than try to power on and check. If it does not work than hardware problem.
But first make sure the charger is working or not or try to charge the chrome book with different.

After you charger the unit disconnect the charger and press power button, if you see a bluelight with no display than press and hold the power button untill the bluelight goes off. Than power on the chrome book and power it off repeatedly 3 times and the 4th time just power on the unit, you will see the display coming up.
(power on and off can be done by a long press of power button until the bluelight goes off and turn it on by a short press of the power button)

What do you mean by then it’s a hardware problem? That’s so general.  How do I solve a “hardware problem”

It didn’t work.  A month or so ago the charger port on the right side went so I could only use the left now neither work.  The right side doesn’t have any light come on and doesn’t charge, the left the light comes on but doesn’t charge.  I bought this 6 months ago.

Why would that be the case after only 6 months? And how will I know which it is or are you suggesting I buy both?

There are several things that can manifest this type of symptom. The fact that you first were able to charge on one port, then that failed and you had to use the other port pretty much says it wasn't a problem with the charger itself. Time to contact Acer support and get a warranty repair, I'm afraid. :(
