I want to upgrade my 7741G (i5-460M,
R5650, HDD) to i7-640M or i7-720QM (didnt decide yet, get more cores or
more Hz?) and SSD.
I
have 2 mini PCI-E slots, one is used by WiFi card and the second is empty (I think some
models used it for Bluetooth module). Can I use my free mini PCI-E slot for SSD (according to google some laptops can). Is this port connected to SATA
controller and will work with SSD or not?
If not I will have to buy HDD bay for DVD slot and put DVD drive into external case.

Right?
The processor question should check if your model has the rPGA socket.
If so, i7-640M would be compatible, but i7-720QM would not.
As for the mini-PCIe connection, if the system reads a Sata mini-PCI SSD, it will only be recognized as cache due to chipset controllers.
