I hae wiped the hard disk (zero filled) and re-installed Windows 7 64 OEM from DVD. With the exceptions of the chipset (Intel 1.1.52.0), SATA AHCI controller (Intel 11.7.0.1013), audio (Realtk HD codec 2.70), webcam (it seems to work and there 3 different driver on Acer's page) and video (AMD cats 13.1), I have used all the Acer software and drivers from the laptop's support page.

Here are the issuse I am having.

1. The Media controll button no longer lights up and gives me access it features.

2. The fingeprin scanner hange 1/2 way on installation. Windows update put a driver for me but I have no control over it.

3. Acer Update software does not work. Actually it never worker even when the laptop was new straight out of the box. It would always com up with no updates.

Other than that, the laptop noticably faster. Can anyone assist with the issuse?

You are no longer using the operating system that shipped with the computer.

We can only support the OS that shipped with the system.

    Attempt to install Launch Manager

Uninstall and reinstall the fingerprint driver.  Do not use Windows Update drivers.

Acer Updater only provides updates when it has them.  If your system is up to date, there would be no updates.

I did install the Launch manager. (I'll uninstall and re-install when i get home).

I've tried to do this twice already. I just sits there at the 1/2 way  point one the progress bar. It should not have to take more than 1/2 an hour.

After the initial install of the OS, I tried the use the Acer update (right click, run as Administrator) with nothing more that the SATA and LAN drivers (for internet access) installed. Still nothing was listed.

Any further advices? Maybe a link to an Acer Windows 7 ISO with SP1 and all the software slipstreamed?

Unforunately, we do not provide ISO images.

Although a slipstreamed copy would be handy, that isn't something we're able to provide.

I do show that every Aspire 8943G shipped in the Americas shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Have you attempted to use recovery media for the system?

Unfortunately the system began to BSOD (with increasing frequence) before I had an opportunity to create it (there was no DVD provided but there seem to have a utility to create it). I have access to an unbranded OEM Windows DVD with SP1 which worked with the key under the laptop.

I see.  You may want to check the Acer store and see if they are available for your unit.
