My HDD died recently so I upgraded to a SSD. Installed Windows 10, everything works fine. Except that every now and then I hear a crackling noise when I watch videos or youtube clips etc. The crackling noise wasn't there before I upgraded which makes me believe theres something up with the audio drivers?

I have looked and looked and I cannot figure out what soundcard I have.
In device manager all I see is: High Definition Audio Device. and Nvidia High Definition Audio and they are up to date.

I have Acer Predator G3610. i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz.
I have looked for info on what soundcard I have and don't seem to find any other than some sites say its integrated. Help appreciated :/

Hi, @A5000 Please try to reinstall the sound drivers under sound adapters in device manager. (High Definition Audio Device) then restart the device and check if you are still experiencing the issue.

Also you can try a bios default which will reset the settings of the computer but does not erase any data.
    1) Turn off the device.
    2) Press power button and immediately press F2 button for 4-5 times.
    3) This will take you to Bios.
    4) Press F9 and click yes then Press F10 and click yes.
    5) This will restart the device and check if this help fix the issue.

You can also get this if your audio plug isn't quite all the way seated. One of the sides will just touch the ground loop causing the sounds.

I uninstalled "High Definition Audio Device" it did not solve the problem. :(
I followed your steps on bios default but its not working. F2 Doesn't do anything. I have Windows 10.

I have tried with both a USB cable and normal chord cable. It's definitly not the audio plug/jack.

Just keep clicking the F2 key from the start, before Windows starts juggling.

I did a bios default as you recommended. The issue still persists.
Should I try download: https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/pc-audio-codecs-high-definition-audio-codecs-software as a last attempt? Even though I don't know if I have realtek. Seems to be integrated.

Fire up Device Manager, it should show you what audio chipset is in there.

    High Definition Audio Device.
    NVIDIA High Definition Audio Device.
    NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device.

Also worth mention that didn't happen before the new SSD: is that whenever I am downloading something the whole computer slows down/lags and the crackling noise gets worse during that duration if I watch videos at same time. This has NEVER happened before and should not happen. I don't have a slow PC...
I have performed Memtest86+ RAM test for faulty RAM - My RAM is fine. Seems like it could be a bigger problem. Don't know what to do. :(

Look under System Devices to see the sound chip info, you can also get an idea by looking at details on the HD audio device. What kind of SSD did you get? Is it an M.2 or wired SATA?

All it says is: High Definition Audio Device. Along with the NVIDIA High Definition Device. Nothing else. I have looked and looked on the internet about my motherboard and soundcard and all info I seem to find is that it is integrated.

    SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB.

They make the 860 EVOs in both SATA and M.2, does yours look like a 2.5" HDD or a circuit board that plugs into a slot on the motherboard?

OK. I'm going to guess then the noise is caused by issues with the cable attaching that drive to the motherboard. It might be just one end that's not fully seated, but more likely a shoddy cable that's the cheapest thing they could make. Try swapping the cables around to isolate it then buy a better quality one and put it in.
