As the title says... every other USB c port I've plugged my phones into, whether on a desktop or other laptops, have initiated "fast charging". Phones I have tried are Samsung S10, Google Pixel 3, and Moto X4.

Is it a driver issue or hardware issue, or does this laptop just not support fast charging on phones.

Thanks in advance.

Meanc technically it should support fast charging (not sure as theres no mention about any mobile fast charging support in any service guides) but because your model also has a separated dp port (usually usb-c in some devices might also support dp depending on the gen version and speed of the port itself) your current usb-c would probably be downgraded (again not sure) as you already have a dp port and theres no mention anywhere about which gen version is the usb-c port in your model also have you tried with a different cable or have you tried via usb 3.0 port if any supports fast charging

None of the USB A ports support fast charging using the factory Moto X4 USB A to C cable on any of my phones. And the USB C to C cables are both factory cables from Samsung and Google.

Just wanted to also add that the xfer speed between the laptop and S10 using the USB C port is also slow.

Could you point me in the right direction for downloading the USB drivers for this unit?

Meanc the usb drivers are universal microsoft provided drivers not manufacturers (they are the same drivers on all devices) i wouldnt say thats a driver issue but you can uninstall your usb drivers completely and let windows reinstall them again also you could try an acer stock recovery (clean install) to rule out any software related issue but bare in mind that if you go this way you should backup everything you need because it will format the drive completely as it was the first day you booted it if after a stock recovery the issue remains i would say for sure that it wouldnt support fast charging you can also if you want contact acer support directly and ask them about the fast charging support via the usb-c port in your exact model they might be able to help you to find out which gen is your port and the supported speeds/wattage etc as they have access to more means to do so but as i previously said nothing is mentioned about the gen or the speed of your usb-c port in you model service manual (which is usually mentioned on all other manuals i had accessed but not the PH315-52)

    Thanks.

I highly doubt anyone at Acer support would remotely have a clue as to the gen / or the tech specs of the USB C. I was hoping someone here would have the same exact model and would be able to do a verification check on at least one of the 3 phones I have. Oh well, hopefully this thread will catch someones eye.

For the time being I could probably just head over to Amazon and ask one of those reviewers who purchased the same laptop.

Meanc why would you say you doubt i dont work for acer and have access to their dashboard with all the service manuals for all the devices (for troubleshooting helping purposes only) so they should have access to much more detailed info :)

PS: and no one needs to have any of the phones you have they only need to own a phone which supports fast charging to test it because the technology its the same for all also bare in mind that fast charging decreases your battery life by a huge percentage as it will heat the battery at high temps when charging and this makes the battery degrades much more quickly i have a mate 20 pro and i never fast charge it i charge it normally on a wireless dock the battery never heats up and i have 7:30 to 8h battery every night while im at work watching tv non stop and when i finish still have 25/30% battery left

My previous Droid tubo 2 (RIP) died due to the fast charging always overheating the battery plus that cpu wouldnt help either its a complete microwave  :p

Well, they didn't have a clue as to the brand of the M.2 NVME drive they used, nor could they tell me the typical speed of the drive. They just said it was "very fast". Then they didn't know if it was a 2x8gb Ram or 1x16gb ram. Maybe the tech was new, maybe they didn't know. Either way, it ddn't inspire confidence with me.

Those specs may vary as there are many variants inside the same model with different specs also may vary from country to country but when you have it you can check them yourself with cpu-z, HWinfo etc and if your not happy theres always the return/refund period :) and usually when its cheaper than the usual price everywhere and its not sale season probably the specs (ram and ssd, hdd) were downgraded to adjust to the price this is what i had seen everywhere but the shops will not warn neither tell you what was downgraded (the usual selling policy :p )

You know we're talking about customer support, right?

They're supposed to have all that info available to them right?  Especially if given S/N and model number, etc...

But, for giggles, and just in case I was truly connected to someone without a clue the first time, I tried again.

After 25min on chat, the rep couldn't tell me one thing about the USB C charging capabilities, the voltage output, or the type of motherboard, the type of SDD, nor the type of RAM.

So, that being said, does anyone have The 2019 300 Helios Predator that can check the USB C port for fast charging a Galaxy S10, Google Pixel 3, or Moto x4?

Meanc unfortunately customer support its also not the same in every country some countries the support its provided by 3rd party repair centers and its said to say but its the reality f it some of those so called engineers arent properly trained they dont seem to know much about anything and regarding your issue yeah only someone with the same phones and the same laptop would be able to answer your exact question
