Upgrade RAM for Mineraft lag on Acer Aspire 3 15.6" Laptop (AMD Ryzen 5 2500U/1TB HDD/8Gb RAM)

Hi, I would like to upgrade to maximum RAM on my son's Acer Aspire 3 15.6" Laptop (AMD Ryzen 5 2500U/1TB HDD/8Gb RAM). I have checked and there are 2 memory slots (currently 4Gb each). What are the specs for this model - fastest type and max RAM for each slot that I should buy?
Also, experiencing serious periodic lag in minecraft. Would RAM be the reason or is it likely something else?

You are welcome   I haven't seen anyone upgrading to 32GB and it's an overkill IMHO.

No problem, 2x8GB is better, it will utilise dual channel.

Sorry, one more question: If I can upgrade to maximum 16Gb RAM and there are 2 slots, is it better to have 2 x 8Gb or just one 16Gb, or does it matter? I currently have 2 x 4GB.
