Some games refuse to use high performance Nitro 5
I don't need the highest graphics, or I wouldn't have gotten the Nitro 5 with Ryzen, but I'm running into some optimization problems with a few games. Rainbow 6 Siege and MTG Arena are the biggest headaches. With Rainbow 6, running normally, it recommends very low settings, claiming I only have a Vega 8 (Integrated GPU), however, running it on medium nets me around 40fps avg. Not great, but playable on casual. However, when I disable the integrated graphics, I do lose a lot of neat features (like brightness adjustment), but the game then recognizes the RX560x in the computer, and just how much power I could potentially get out of it. Popping it into medium, the game says I'm not even using half of the VRAM available. But I still get 40fps, and with noticeably jitters and tearing (And the game also says I'm using unsupported drivers, which is fun). Clearly there's some power here that's not being utilized, and I'd like to have the smoothest experience with this game, especially with the new ranked season starting soon.
MTG Arena doesn't have as robust settings, but on anything but the lowest resolution (with cards now being unreadable) it runs like utter ****, over a second of input lag, graphics look awful, crashes from "not enough memory," just overall is unpleasant. Both with integrated GPU enabled/disabled, it's the same.
I've tried what many tutorials say: That is going into AMD settings, and telling it to run it High Performance. However, for some reason, with the games giving me trouble, I've noticed that it keeps switching back to power saving. Whether the game was running or not when I changed to High Performance didn't matter. As soon as I launched/relaunched the game, Power Saver became the chosen option. Is there anything I can do to get proper GPU performance? To actually keep the High Performance settings? Any help is appreciated.
