Some games refuse to use high performance Nitro 5

I don't need the highest graphics, or I wouldn't have gotten the Nitro 5 with Ryzen, but I'm running into some optimization problems with a few games. Rainbow 6 Siege and MTG Arena are the biggest headaches. With Rainbow 6, running normally, it recommends very low settings, claiming I only have a Vega 8 (Integrated GPU), however, running it on medium nets me around 40fps avg. Not great, but playable on casual. However, when I disable the integrated graphics, I do lose a lot of neat features (like brightness adjustment), but the game then recognizes the RX560x in the computer, and just how much power I could potentially get out of it. Popping it into medium, the game says I'm not even using half of the VRAM available. But I still get 40fps, and with noticeably jitters and tearing (And the game also says I'm using unsupported drivers, which is fun). Clearly there's some power here that's not being utilized, and I'd like to have the smoothest experience with this game, especially with the new ranked season starting soon.

MTG Arena doesn't have as robust settings, but on anything but the lowest resolution (with cards now being unreadable) it runs like utter *****, over a second of input lag, graphics look awful, crashes from "not enough memory," just overall is unpleasant. Both with integrated GPU enabled/disabled, it's the same.

I've tried what many tutorials say: That is going into AMD settings, and telling it to run it High Performance. However, for some reason, with the games giving me trouble, I've noticed that it keeps switching back to power saving. Whether the game was running or not when I changed to High Performance didn't matter. As soon as I launched/relaunched the game, Power Saver became the chosen option. Is there anything I can do to get proper GPU performance? To actually keep the High Performance settings? Any help is appreciated.

After doing the above your games should look like this, this is my scourge of war imported and saved to high performance

If you cant do this then your AMD control center needs reinstalling from here

Do this if you haven't already

BEFORE gaming make sure your Battery is charged to 100% and then KEEP it plugged into charger whilst gaming,
Make sure Windows 10 is set on High performance when on AC
Make sure your graphics drivers are updated to this version or higher and click express upgrade

Make sure High Performance is selected under Power Plan in Nitrosense when on AC

After that make sure your RX560x is selected in Switchable Graphics for your games and your games are set on High Performance, you must import your games .exe using the Browse tab in pic below

For additional reference, I almost never run my laptop without being plugged in. And like I said, I already tried the high performance, and the setting, for whatever reason, keeps switching to power saver. All of my nitro settings are already set to high performance. As far as the last one goes, How do I select the RX560x in my switchable graphics? I'm not seeing that option. And as far as browse goes, that button does not exist on my client.

AN515-42. I'm gonna try to steps you listed above, and I will keep you posted on the results from that, thank you

Okay, I followed those steps, and while the games are no longer switching back to power saver, Rainbow 6 still only seems to recognize the VRAM available from the integrated graphics, with comparable results as to what I started with. MTG Arena, however, performs much better and doesn't seem to crash now, so that's progress

It's working better for one of the games, but still not solved for Rainbow 6

Sorry I don't know any specific game specs only graphics optimization and you my friend are optimized. This is probably a game settings problem not a graphics problem. Good luck

In that case, thank you for the help you were able to give. Might not be able to properly shoot bio-terrorists, but at least I can sling spells now
