Just got the laptop, and immediately put more RAM in, and working on trying to install an SSD as a boot drive.  The laptop wont recognize the SSD once booted.  In the BIOS, it shows up on the Information tab, but not on the Boot tab.  Tried following the ACER youtube video, but no luck.  What am I missing?  Pretty much a noob, so sorry if its a simple fix.
Here is the SSD I bought:

"You can do this cloning with Acronis (that is recommended by Crucial) or AOMEI or Macrium Reflect

How to clone HDD to M.2 SSD?

After connecting your M.2 SSD to your computer, make sure it is recognized by your computer. If it is shown in Windows Disk Management, then you can follow the steps below to clone hard drive to M.2 SSD.

    1. Download and run this freeware AOMEI Backupper.

    2. At the Home screen, click on “Clone” and then select “Disk Clone”. If you prefer to clone only OS, you can select “System Clone”. It’s the advanced feature in AOMEI Backupper Pro edition.

    3. Select the original hard drive as source disk and select the M.2 SSD as the destination disk successively.
    4. Tick "SSD Alignment" to accelerate the reading and writting speed of the destination SSD. Click “Start Clone” to start the clone.
If you prefer to clone via bootable USB disk, the process is the same after you boot from the bootable disk created by AOMEI Backupper. As you can see, besides the ability to clone HDD to M.2 SSD, it also allows you to backup hard drive or restore it when need be.

!) The SSD should have GPT partition.
    2) it should be bootable.
    3) it should have operating system on it.

only then it would be shown as bootable in bios.

what shows in the boot menu ? when you press F12 key and power on.

I have copied all the contents of the 1TB main drive over to the SSD via a clone.  Removed the main drive, and go in to Bios, and it still doesnt show.

    1) I have made it GPT
    2) Not sure how to do that.
    3) It does as far as I know by doing the clone.

Do I press F12 after I get in to BIOS and on the boot tab?

Sorry, stupid questions, I know.  But thanks for the help.
  • When you cloned, did you also clone 100mb partitions and erecovery? Also, have you ever checked if the disk is online in windows disk manager?

I did not close the 100mb patitions and recovery, just the C drive. Should I have? I have checked the manager, and it does show up.
