Aspire 5253 power up issue

I bought an Aspire 5253 notebook for my daughter last year.  A few months ago it developed an intermittent power problem. I thought it must be the power adapter or battery but when I finally got a chance to evaluate it turns out to not be any of the obvious things.  And a search of this site and Google indicate this is a known issue.  I'm hopeful that even though there is no recall and this notebook is off warranty that Acer will be wiling, as they apparently have in other cases, to fix the problem.  In any case any information about exactly what the problem is would be much appreciated.  The symptoms are the same as others have described.  Sometimes the notebook powers up fine, other times nothing, no lights.  The unit is in as-new condition except for this problem.  I've purchased a number of Acer notebooks so far and this is the first problem I've run into.  Help!

Unfortunately, there is not enough information for someone to make a determination of what is wrong with the system via forums messages.  It would need to be looked at by a service center.

On the one hand I understand what you're saying, but this last January someone described the exact situation I am in this forum (search 5253 power) and apparently you yourself responded with a private message that led to a happy resolution to this problem.  All I'm asking for is the same consideration.  Thanks for any assitance you can provide - MF
