Acer Aspire E5-522 Restarting On Its Own Randomly - Please Help

I have had an Acer E15-522 Laptop now for about close to 3 years and just about a few months ago it started randomly restarting on it's own

The Bios and Everthing is up to date, I uninstalled Acer Portal the only thing I have installed is the Care Center from Acer.

My Laptop is stationary plugged into a 37 Inch TV and I have the laptop always closed but sitting on like a cooling fan.

I was playing "Second Life" a virtually reality game when it happened today and I have checked with CanIRunIt.com to make sure this laptop could handle it before I installed it and it can

What problem were you having that you thought a BIOS update would fix? A BIOS update is usually not advisable unless the machine had a major problem to begin with. The risk of bricking the machine or causing undesirable or unintended side effects is too great. Do you recall the original BIOS version since this is the correct version for this particular machine when it left the factory. And approximately when did you update the BIOS? Jack E/NJ

Well I never did the Update on BIOS as I didnt want to play around with that and screw up my entire laptop but when I checked my BIOS and the one on Acers website of this laptop it's the exact same one no difference whatsoever that's why I didnt do it.

I should also state my laptop makes a odd sound before restarting on it's own, that I have it sitting on a laptop cooling fan and a room with an air conditioner that's always set on 23 and 22 when I sleep (down numbers is colder)

Well it could be a spring-loaded safety interlock switch on the mainboard. It's supposed to cut all power to the mainboard if the bottom cover(s) is removed or is not aligned properly. Usually causes seemingly random shutdowns, but most often happens when the machine is being physically disturbed or actually being used --- for example moving the laptop, typing on the keyboard, using the touchpad or adjusting the lid. Is this the type of 'shutdown' you're seeing? Have you removed bottom cover(s) for any reason? Changed battry? Added RAM? Changed HDD/SSD? Stuff like that. Jack E/NJ

No I haven't even touched it in months I use a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse it's stationary like this (picture below)

I have looked into videos how to take it apart to clean it properly with compressed air but it's been to difficult and complicated for me to understand

Nothing has been touched as far as ram, hdd/ssd, battery or anything I don't know if you can tell by picture or not but its always plugged in too

Here's a picture of the bottom 2 of the rubbers fell off so I put enough tape so that it would be straight

I just took compressed air to all the vents that I could including the side and only a little dust came out not a whole lot where the fan is

It just Randomly re-starts on it's own with me no where near it

It has never once randomly shut off

Yes I have McAfee Installed and no not the Free Version I have it the subscription through my cable provider

I also have Melwarebytes Installed that one is the free version

Uninstall McAfee, don't just disable it at startup. Then test the system. Jack E/NJ

I went to a Computer Tech Shpp Today and he told me it was mostly McAfee with the big rescources and ram that it uses so I uninstalled it just a few mins ago

That I should reformat the hard drive and re-install with a thum bdrive 16GB that he sold me for $20.00

To Download the Windows 10 iOS onto the USB stick first before I did any of that

Now he also told me to Un-Install Acer Apps as there Obselete is this true and should I do this?

No. Uninstall McAfee only. Then test. Non-Microsoft scanners are no longer in vogue since Windows Defender and Malicious Software Removal Tool are automatically enabled, updated and quite adequate for most users. Jack E/NJ

I uninstalled McAfee I noticed a huge difference how fast my laptop was restarting, how fast images in games were loading up and everything else.

I also uninstalled every program I had from Iobit.com like Adavanced Systemcare, Driver Booster, etc today

Now I'm worried should I have anything installed as far as to protect me against Trojan's, Virsus, Hackers, Etc?

Windows Defender and Malicious Software Removal Tool are all most folks need these days. They're automatically updated on Win10 machines. Standalone programs like Iobit's DriverBooster or McAfee's Stinger don't run in the background and don't slow up the machine. So they're OK to have on your machine. Don't get too overzealous in deleting standalones like this as they can be very useful at times. Jack E/NJ

Pfft that's not true I seen the resources and ram McAfee was running it was quite a lot of resources and ram otherwise the tech would never told me to get rid of them

He showed me the task manager process on them right to me eye to eye, and then seen Driver Bosster pop up several times in task manager and pointed it out even after I ended the task

So you might want to try that lie to someone who didn't see the task manager reasons of why he told me to get rid of them

Plus I would never noticed a difference in how my laptop was restarting, images where loading up and everything else if this was true.

So please go back to IT Tech school I have asked several techs with years of experience under therr belt and all said the same thing that I shouldn't of had McAfee on a laptop it runs to many resources

Do you mean the program that comes installed when you buy this laptop that she has mentioned?

If so even that runs quite a lot of resources and ram

My husband and I have the exact same laptop and he had uninstalled the McAfee that comes installed with the laptop right away and he didn't tell me the difference

Eventually I did it as well and I agree with MichelleMcKnight the difference in the laptop how fast it restarted, programs loaded up, games loaded up, images in games loading up and more there was a huge difference and I only uninstalled McAfee and ran the Uninstaller tool from McAfee then restarted the laptop and then nothing else.

Now it can't be a considence that 3 of the exact same laptops have better issues after uninstalling McAfee wiether its from the website or the one that comes installed with the laptop so I really think Acer needs to get it together and remove it from laptops.

Nope. McAfeeStinger is never installed on any laptops like McAfeeAntivirus. They're two completely different products that just happened to be distributed by the same company by the name of McAfee. That's why I said in my earlier response to uninstall McAfeeAntivirus don't just disable it at startup. Jack E/NJ

Disabling it from Start up doesn't do jack **** .... excuse my language but it doesn't here is an exmple below

Example: I had Avdanced SystemCare, Driver Booster, Smart Defrag and 1 other program disabled from Start up by typing msconfig and disabling them from Start up and Services.

Yet they still managed to show up every single time during start up.

So it's just easier to uninstall it.
