Is there a way to sacrifice performance to achieve lower CPU/GPU temps?

Hi everyone, I have been having some temperature issues with my brand new Helios 300 laptop (GTX 1060, i7, 16GB RAM), but I managed to resolve it through undervolting (used XTU to reduce voltage offset to -0.125), temperatures are in acceptable range but keyboard still overheats and fans make a lot of noise. I have noticed that when laptop is not charging I am not getting the temperatures nearly as high as when charging (which is expected of course, as GPU/CPU dont work at full power when not charging), but I do get lag spikes sometimes during gaming if laptop is not connected. I was wondering if there is a way to balance performance and heat? Can I limit GPU/CPU performance so that I dont get lag spikes but also it does not heat too much? (kinda like getting it to sweet spot between gaming when charging and not charging)

ach113 firstly because you are decreasing the battery lifespan cycles the more charging cycles you use less battery life you will have in the long term i suggest to alwasy use it one on AC (mine its on AC for 18 months now 24/7 non stop) and secondly because you are on battery mode the performance will be automatically cut by 50% or so your cpu will not turbo boost neither your gpu can be overclocked and also the fans will get noisy when on high performance AC mode you cant do anything about that neither about the chassis as the heating pipes run just under the keyboard  as you stated your temps they are fine no need to worry about it thats completely normal

ach113 Optimise windows/undervolt with TS not xtu and if still needed repaste (with kryonaut or similar if you dont have any warranty seals if you have only acer can do it or you will void your warranty) the easy way to sacrifice your gpu its to disabe turbo boost (not recommended at all you are killig the beast turning it into a core i3 lol) by going into the advanced power options and set the cpu state to 99% it will only work at stock clocks so any game requiring the cpu to work over stock clocks will never work properly and you should never play any game on battery the battery only purpose its to help the adapter to provide enough power to the gpu/cpu when this one cant alwasy play on AC with the battery charged to 100% follow the links in my signature if you wish to learn more about it

Why exactly is it not recommended to play on battery? Also I have tried the suggestions you gave earlier (except for repasting for now), and I have been getting normal temperatures on CPU/GPU (from 70's to low 80's max) but its just the cooler fans and overheating metal chassis that annoy me. Would overclocking GPU improve anything?

You can limit your framerate globally using Nvidia Inspector. I do that for a lot of games that dont have fps caps at the pause screens. This solution, unlike some others, doesnt require undervolting and you can turn on and off without restarting
