AMD is offering to send out BIOS updates for any MoBos not taking the new Ryzen?

So I was doing my weekly check to see if there's any progress on popping a 3700x in to my Helios 500 and I came across this link:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100#faq-Workarounds

and a summary here:

https://www.extremetech.com/computing/295027-amd-will-provide-a-free-temporary-uefi-upgrade-kit-for-ryzen-3000-motherboard-updates

Is this what it sounds like? You send AMD pictures of your new CPU, your MoBo, and explain why you aren't able to use it....and they do a custom BIOS update for you on something they send you? The 2700->3700x jump is far from negligible and I already have the CPU, so....

BurnsXL Well theres only way to find out its to try it but i guess they would have to ask Acer permission to edit/change any bios for any of their products first

Yeah I filled out the requisition form as they specified (you put boot kit needed without quotes as the problem description) - will let you know if I hear anything. It's definitely what this program/AMD thing is about.

They're seemingly on the lookout for manufacturers that skimped out on next-gen functionality if I'm understanding it.

You're misunderstanding, they send you an older apu that will work with the old 1st or 2nd gen ryzen bios so you can update your bios to a newer version that will allow you to boot with the 3xxx cpus.  They won't make or send you a bios, just an apu that will allow you to boot and update to the latest manufacturer supplied bios. You then are supposed to send the apu back once you've updated your bios.  They did the same thing for 2nd gen ryzen.
