ACER XFA240 - Terrible flickering and popping above 60hz

Hello,

I am having issues reaching 144hz. In fact, I can't seem to even get past 60hz without issues.
I've updated all my drivers, tried multiple HDMI and display cables(Each certified to handle 144hz), plugged in the monitor directly to an outlet to bypass the surge protector, made sure both monitor settings and nvidia settings were set to the same res and refresh rate, tried with G-Sync off, tried with triple buffering enabled, tried with v-sync enabled, and even more methods that solved other peoples issues; all to no avail. I have put off asking for help for weeks and I think it's time to see if anyone can help.
The only thing I have not been able to do is try a different monitor/gpu; I don't have spares.

specs:

ACER XFA240
GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
MSI Z370 A-Pro
Intel i5 8600K @ 3.60hz
Ivanky DP Cable (2K @ 144hz)
EVGA 500 B1, 80+ Broze 500W PSU
2x8GB RAM DDR3
Windows 10*

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Note that I have literally scanned forums for hours looking for a resolution.
I would hate for something to be physically wrong with my monitor or gpu  :'(

Thank you.
