I have an old 2008 Macbook Pro (model 4,1) that I had connected to a Samsung 34" ultrawide display, filling the entire screen, connected via DVI out to HDMI into the display.
The DVI port is capable of 2560x1600.  I am using a brand new dual link DVI to HDMI cord.

I am trying to connect my new Acer Predator X34 the same way, and no matter what scale or settings I try, the monitor will not display full screen and utilize the widescreen like the samsung does.  Can you help me with this?  Currently, the X34 is connected and the only scaled resolution that works is 1080p, and it basically cuts off ~4.5" on both sides
. Any other higher or lower resolutions result in a black screen.  Please keep in mind I have NO issues with a similarly sized monitor.
