Hi everyone, just the other day my right laptop speaker stopped working. If I plug in headphones it's fine however.

I have tried:
Checking sound balance.
Basic troubleshoot app.
Delete/Reinstall drivers
Download drivers from Acer's website

Nothing has worked, now from what I understand the laptop comes with some type of dolby program for its audio? I'm not gonna lie I never paid attention before as everything was working fine, but now in my search of a fix I tried looking for that program and theres nothing to be found. I've only had this laptop a little over 40 days, naturally just over my return window to just get a replacement. I'm hoping I can solve the issue myself, with the help of some kind strangers as I cannot really afford to send it in for a repair when I need it for daily usage.

I'll try to include a few more things that ones smarter than myself might need.

Laptop is PH315-52 model

The speakers that it's using currently (And again this might have changed at some point as I never paid attention - but from my understanding it should be being powered by dolby?) Realtek(r) Audio, Driver version 6.0.1.8652

Again any help or suggestions would be fantastic - I'm really praying this is not a hardware problem and I'm simply being a fool, overlooking something.

Thanks!

Would you mind resetting the device using Acer Care Center?

After resetting, the sound issue persists. Now the webcam is turning on and off when I tested the sound with a video..

What is the current Windows 10 build that you are on right now? Also, when you deleted/reinstalled the driver, did you select "Delete driver files"? If you didn't, try it again but this time, install the Audio driver without connecting to the internet.

    version 1903 (OS Build 18362.239)

And I did delete the files when attempting the audio driver install, I cannot recall if I was trying it while disconnected at the time though - will try that shortly and report back!

Just went in and installed the driver while ensuring the files were removed/internet was disconnected. Nothing seems to of changed.
Another thing that might help with pinpointing the problem. Many FAQ's I've read on this issue recommend messing with the audio enhancements tab to turn off some setting. I have no tab in my sound properties for enhancements in the first place. I'm not sure if that's relevant or not, but I found it strange.

You mean it is like this without the Dolby Audio part?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek\Audio\DAX2. Navigate to this. There will be Dolby installer. Btw, have you checked whether the default playback device is set to use the speakers?

There are no Realtek files there... :\ And the Realtek speakers are the only option to use, other than the HDMI outputs.

That's quite strange. When you install Realtek driver successfully, it creates such folder in C drive.

Since my last post I attempted to install the audio driver provided on Realtek' website. The files now show in that location, however there is not DAX2. I assume that is because the drivers Acer provides have it bundled specifically for this make of laptop. I will retrying the ones provided by acer again some more today, perhaps I'm doing something wrong while trying to install them as they don't seem to have a .exe included and I've been attempting to do it manually via the .inf file. I'm by no means a computer expert, so theres a good chance I'm messing something up along the way.

Try with Acer drivers as they have this Dolby bundled specifically for your laptop model.

xgt92 the audio drivers from acer will install dolby audio when you install them just make sure you remove completely the older drivers first and if the speaker still not working after all the attempts above i would probably suspect either a bad wire connection or a faulty speaker as last resort restore you os to acer factory recovery clean install not keeping your files (backup whatever you need first) to rule out any software issues if its hardware contact the seller/shop where you bought it or acer support directly for a repair/replacement

Just went through and deleted old realtek files that I could find, after an uninstall and fresh install  of the supplied drivers off the Acer website for my build of laptop.  There is still no Dolby audio to be found, I can however find a realtek audio console though..

Alright so yesterday (sorry for a late reply) I went in and searched up realtek files, deleted what I could - and upon installing the drivers as I had before, the right speaker began working again. I still have no dolby interface to tweak with - however the sound is restored!

I'll look into that link when I get home later Xapim, and see if that solves the dolby interface problem!
