Acer EB321HQU MM.T5NAA.002 Display Port is fuzzy

So I got my monitor today, plugged it in via the display port and Windows gives me a recommended resolution of 1080p, for the 2k monitor.  It also lets me select 2880x1620 (3k) which I believe it looks the "best" on but it's still fuzzy.  This resolution is what shows in the monitor's menu and it gives me weird resolutions when I try other things from Windows like 2k or 1080p, etc.

I plugged it in via HDMI and it works flawlessly.  Windows still recommends 1080p, however 2k is the highest option and selecting it gives me a crystal clear picture and the on screen menu shows everything exactly, no matter what resolution I choose.  I've tried 2 DP cables that I use with my 4k monitors as well as the DP cable that came with my monitor and they all do the same thing, so I don't think it's cable related.  It's almost as if via DP the monitor isn't telling my PC the correct resolution that it is.

I can't test the DVI-D connection because I don't have any dual link DVI cables, I have on coming but I'd really like to get the display port working.

Thanks
Davey

    Good Morning EeyoreDavey !

What model of your computer or laptop?
The final resolution of output depends on the processor and GPU support used.

I have an Ryzen 5 2600X along with an XFX R9 390.  I've tried many different settings within Windows display settings as well as within AMD's control panel to get it to work and haven't had any luck.  I have the latest video card drivers from AMD as well.

Yeah, you need 2560x1440 for clearest view. You are either missing a driver or the video card isn't reading the right specs from the monitor.

Yea, that's exactly the problem.  I've updated the driver to the one from Acer's website, I've tried 3 different PC's now with updated video card drivers on each.  The Dual DVI works great and the HDMI works great, but the DP gives really weird readings on the monitor side and the PC side, even if I manually set it to 2560x1440.

Have you tried a different DP cable? Some of the old cables don't support the newer modes.

Yes, as I said in the original post I've tried both DP cables that I use with my 4k monitors as well as the DP cable that came with the Acer itself.

Sorry, I'd missed that you already tested with different cables. I don't have access to one of those AMD video cards, but it's pretty obviously not reading the monitor specs right on DP. I wonder if there is a driver tweak that would let you force a 'non-standard' resolution to get the card into the right mode?

I have tried AMD's software to add custom resolutions (and the correct resolution is there...but even if I chose it, when I go under the on display Acer menu it shows I'm running that 3k resolution.  In fact forcing AMD to send 3k is clearer than the 2k...but still not as clear as the 2k is on HDMI or DVI-D.  I've tried this on my AMD and my other 2 laptops, both running graphics off of Intel i7's...one a gen 6 and the other a gen 8.  They all have updated drivers.
