Is there a way to set battery charge limit on Acer Preadator Triton PT515-51 (Windows 10)

I keep my gaming laptop plugged in almost all the time I use it. Battery is being charged to 100% all the time. Can you point me to a way how to keep the Acer laptop lithium ion battery at 80% when I don't need that extra charge?

Keeping lithium ion batteries at 100% charge at room temperature makes them lose 20% capacity per year, while keeping them at optimal 40% charge level only lose 4% capacity per year. Charging a lithium ion battery above 80% and discharging it below 30% creates battery wear, reducing it's capacity to hold charge. My point is that charging the battery to 100% and keeping it there is a waste of perfectly good laptop battery that would last 2-3 times longer if there was a way to choose a charge threshold.

In a Tesla car You can set maximum lithium ion battery charge threshold anywhere from 50% to 90% for daily use. You should only charge Your Tesla lithium ion battery to 100% shortly before trip that needs the maximum range.

On a Dell laptop there is a feature "Power manager" to set battery charge thresholds - For example: Stop charging at 80% start charging at 70%. This means that when working with power cord plugged in, the battery life is extended by keeping it below full charge.

On Samsung laptop there is "Battery life extender" (https://superuser.com/questions/476332/does-the-samsung-battery-life-extender-work) - when enabled keeps battery charged at 80% and roughly doubles it's lifetime.

According to Notebookcheck.net discussion, in addition to Dell and Samsung this feature is also present in Lenovo, Asus, Sony, HP, MSI laptops.

insp Hi and no Acer doesnt have that function also the batteries on all predators will never overcharge after they reach 100% (you can get battery bar pro to confirm this if you dont believe me) they only will trickle charge once the battery goes under 95% and start to charge when this one reaches 40% or less (which you will notice if you are gaming because you will loose all performance windows will go into battery mode because the adapter cannot provide enough power to charge the battery and power the gpu/cpu if youre gaming so when this happens you should stop what you are doing and let the battery charge to 100% again after you can start again and when gaming they should always be on 100% before you start any game and always on AC

I suggest you to contact acer support from you country and suggest them that feature for them to pass onto the devs but i really doubt that will happen but you can give it a try because this community its not acer direct support channel the community its ran by users like you and me that are here to help others the best way they can we are not acer employees we are here all voluntary only

Also you talked about battery lifetime so lithium ion batteries have/work in life cycles same as the the ssds (when you read/write on them) each time you recharge you use one cycle so this said the less times you charge it more lifetime span you will have i have my predator on 24/7 since the first day non stop for 16 months now and my battery wear its only 9% as long as you calibrate the battery once every 3 months its all fine

re. fitch's solution. I was happy there's a solution to some laptops. i'd like acer to make this available to other series as well. I'm on an aspire 3, also plugged in most the time. planning on using it for at least three years, i know having it on 100 percent most of the time will definitely fry the battery's graphite. the planet would say thank you if acer went a bit greener on this one and maybe even make it a default option.

gauravsingh01 reporteric that option its not available on any of the predator/triton series and many other models (that swift 3 its from 2018 much has changed since then to all acer software) plus the battery will never overcharge and you always should start any games with the battery 100% charged and always on AC the battery main purpose its to provide the adapter with extra power when this one cant provide enough to the cpu/gpu and should only be used on battery only on emergency and light works also you should calibrate the battery properly once every 3/6 months depending on the usage and optimise your windows and undervort with TS

I do not have that option to set my battery to 80% I am running Acer Care Center version 4.00.3019, any idea how to remedy that?

Got it, had to uninstall and reinstall Acer Care.

Hectic_FPV just bare in mind care center its useless the only good function its to show the snid and serial nothing else and as i previously said theres no way to limit the batter charging and theres no need to either internal batteries will not overcharged they were designed to last if properly maintained and calibrated regularly
