Can't Shut Off Laptop with Power Button(Acer Aspire A715-72G

Hello all, thank you for your time in answering my question.

I cannot for the life of me find an answer to this problem. I have an Acer Aspire A715-72G. I did a clean install of Windows 10 pro when I got the laptop in order to avoid uninstalling all of the bloatware that came with the laptop. I can turn the laptop on with the power button but I can't turn it off. If I hold the power button for about 2 or 3 seconds and release it, the unit does nothing. If I hold it in for about 5 or so seconds, it shuts the entire unit off entirely without initiating a proper shutdown sequence. I've checked the power settings in Windows and its set to shut down the laptop when I press the power button. This is very frustrating.

What should I do? Would updating the BIOS help? I've searched for weeks on how to fix this problem, but nothing seems to work. Thanks!

Hi,you can also try to update your BIOS from the official website. But be cautious to download the correct software.

Did you install Acer Quick Access and tested it?
Did you check the Windows power plan options how the shut down button option is set?

Yes, the power plan options are correct. Why should I have to install Acer Quick Access when Windows should handle what the power button does? Besides, there is no Acer Quick Access for Windows 10. This should work without installing an application from Acer.

There is rather the application for your model and version 10 of Windows.
